"We will continue to work with the United States to ensure that we get an enduring ceasefire, to ensure that dialogue is happening and to work through with Pakistan and India how we can get to confidence and confidence-building measures between the two sides," Lammy told Reuters (the popular but creditable firangi news agency) in Pakistan's capital Islamabad at the end of a two-day visit.

India has made it clear that what is being given out as ceasefire - in the strictest sense is not ceasefire. No paper has been signed. The Operation Sindoor is only "suspended" - PM Narendra Modi himself said.

New Delhi has stated that there was no change in India’s “longstanding national position” that issues relating to Jammu and Kashmir were a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.

That means US President Donald Trump has nothing to do about it. Lammy and his country can simply ponder about some other issues under the sky.

The US President’s repeated claim that Washington had mediated the cessation of hostilities has been rejected by MEA spokesman. So if one has downgraded the position of US President; it is certainly not our MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal.

Asked about Trump’s claim that the US had threatened to stop trade with both India and Pakistan if they continued to fire at each other, Jaiswal was categorical that trade "did not figure" in the several conversations that New Delhi had with Washington from the time Operation Sindoor commenced.

Lammy can take note of this as well.

“We have a longstanding national position that any issues pertaining to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have to be addressed by India and Pakistan bilaterally. 

That stated policy has not changed. As you are aware, the outstanding matter is the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan,” Jaiswal has said.

Trump in the entire process has made a clown of himself.  Such is his credibility.

Michael Rubin, a former Pentagon official and senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, took a jibe at the US President keenness/tendency to claim credit for almost every achievement under the sky --  saying that Trump might as well have claim credit for having "invented the Internet" and "cured cancer."

My choice of the word 'clownish' sounds a humble English of a blogger.  

"Donald Trump likes to claim credit for everything. If you ask Donald Trump, he single-handedly won the World Cup. He invented the Internet. He cured cancer. Indians should be more like Americans in this regard and not take Donald Trump literally". 

Lammy can easily join the club along with Shehbaz Sharif and a military general -- who has already earned the title of 'Comical Ali' in Pakistan and India. During his Pakistan trip, Lammy would do well to discover the 'differences' between the two countries.

Pakistan is an army-run rogue nation that hides Osama bin Laden and houses other terrorists. India is the world's largest democracy.
