Can Balochistan go the Bangladesh way ????? ::::::: Indian army says -- "Pakistan attacks with drones, munitions along western border effectively repulsed"

Thanks to the Modi government and its Operation Sindoor; Pakistan is left leaking wounds and isolated.

It all happened gradually and also suddenly. Internally, Pakistan is set to face enormous challenges.  Pakistan is now under an uncontrolled group of animals --- multiple power centres -- the Netas, the Fauzis (military) and terrorists ..... who will take control ?

Pak Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  may become an easy scapegoat.... or rather 'bali ba bakra' - sacrificial goat.

Pakistan's armed forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire western border on the intervening night of May 8-9, which were "effectively repulsed", the Indian Army said on Friday.

Pakistani troops also resorted to "numerous ceasefire violations" along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said in an early morning post on X.

Army also shared a small video clip with the post, asserting that all nefarious designs will be responded with force.

" Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignity and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force.," says a tweet from the Ministry of Defence.

"Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir," it said.

The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs.

The Govt of India said a video "is widely circulating on social media with a claim that Hazira Port in Gujarat has been attacked".

It is a fake claim.

"This is an unrelated video confirmed to depict an oil tanker explosion. The video is dated July 7, 2021.  Do not share this video," Govt advised.

Can Balochistan go the Bangladesh way ?

The phrase - "Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly"-  is a well-known response to the question "How did you go bankrupt?" in the novel 'The Sun Also Rises' written by Ernest Hemingway.

It describes a common path to bankruptcy or doom.

The statement easily applies to Pakistan of 2025.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  may become an easy scapegoat.... or rather 'bali ba bakra' - sacrificial goat.

As analysts say – PM Narendra Modi’s 'Operation Sindoor' strikes headquarters of cowardice and inhuman violent culture -- LeT, JeM.

But more important question will be – what happens to Balochistan? Can it go the Bangladesh way?

On May 6th – hours before Pakistan faced the most avoidable hour in the new century --- Balochistan National Party leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal had reminded Pakistani generals --- “The Pakistani Army should never forget the shameful defeat of 1971 and the surrender of 90,000 soldiers. Not only their weapons, even their trousers are still hanging there”.

May be the game had begun much before. In 2016, August 15th – Independence Day speech Narendra Modi had said - "The world is watching. People of Balochistan, Gilgit, Baltistan and occupied Kashmir have thanked me a lot in the past few days. I am grateful to them”.

Modi had said the way people from these Pakistani regions "wished me well, gives me great joy". In thanking an Indian Prime Minister, "they have thanked the whole population of my country ..... I want to offer my gratitude to these people."

Modi had also said that it was time for Islamabad to explain to the world its "atrocities on people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Balochistan"

Before the advent of the Modi government, the general refrain from the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi used to be -- unless we have the appropriate capacity in all the three areas namely political, economic and military it is “more prudent” for India to remain low profile on vexed matter like Balochistan.

Modi had contested this. True -- Vision, Ambition and Necessity are the three basic elements those shape international policies of any country.

Modi is certainly the hardliner boy when it comes to decision making.

He has done it thrice – 2016, 2019 and now 2025.

Will he go a step further vis-a-vis Balochistan? That’s a very delicate spot for Islamabad.

Come to think of it - Balochistan will remain a major  problem area for Pakistan.

There are two things which drive Balochistan movement – one, the historical facts and the other – the exploitation of the region and the people by Pakistan which has a Punjabi domination

One senior analyst in Varanasi, Tushar Bhadra said – “Real integration of Pakistan  actually never happened and is not possible in near future. The biggest demerit of Pakistan as a country is the gross and blatant Punjab centric approach."

Moreover, there is political and military corruption and this adds to further exploitation of the Baloch society.”

Pakistan’s military said on May 6th that members of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) armed group targeted the vehicle carrying the soldiers in the province bordering Iran and Afghanistan.

For their part, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for two separate attacks that resulted in the deaths of 14 Pakistani Army personnel on May 6th.  Chances are that there will be more such attacks.

With Baloch Rebels glaring their teeth, India flexing its muscles, lack of support from the USA; Pakistan in May 2025 has a very few option to bank upon.

To crystal gaze, one can the future of Pakistan is bleak as it is.  Balochistan will make it worse. But the army has to prove that it is the major power centre. And hence it’ll take control sooner or later.

In terms of water management after suspension of Indus Water Treaty (IWT), Pakistan has only three major water storages at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma, with a limited cumulative storage capacity only 9.7 per cent of its requirement.

The disruption of water supplies will worsen almost threatening its food security.

Pakistan took help of IMF in 2024 to come out of an economic crisis and having secured a $7 billion IMF bailout. It will now face the prospect of costly military mobilisation.

Located in the southwestern region of the country, Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan by land area but is the least populated one. It is bordered by the Pakistani provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the north-east, Punjab to the east and Sindh to the south-east. It shares international borders with Iran to the west and Afghanistan to the north; and is bound by the Arabian Sea to the south.

Although it makes up about 44% of the land area of Pakistan, only 5% of it is arable and it is noted for an extremely dry desert climate.

So being development-starved makes it more vulnerable for a bigger political  mission.

Balochistan has a long history of resistance against the government of Pakistan, and militant insurgencies by groups fighting for an independent state for the Baloch people began in 1948, emerging again in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s.

The people of Balochistan had long felt their region was neglected by Islamabad. Iran, in particular, has accused Pakistan of allowing militants from the Sunni separatist group Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) to operate freely from Balochistan and carry out attacks on Iranian authorities.

So, Baloch doing their own games may force Iran discuss matters more intensely with Team Modi.

In December 2023, 11 Iranian police officers were killed and several injured when Jaish al-Adl militants (Baloch people) attacked a police station in Iran’s Sistan.
