Bhik Mangna Shuru ho-gaya !! Helpless Pakistan writes -- appeals to India to 'reconsider' decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty,

The Pakistan's Ministry of Water Resources has appealed to India to reconsider the decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.

Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil had arrangements will be made to ensure 'not a single drop of water' is wasted.

New Delhi announced suspension of water-sharing pact after April 22 Pahalgam terror attack

Narendra Modi said in his May 12 radio broadcast that blood and water cannot flow together.

The government of India had last month announced plans on three fronts - short-term, mid-term, and long-term - to prevent the Indus river's water from reaching Pakistan. Last month New Delhi said:

"The obligation to honour a treaty in good faith is fundamental to a treaty.

However, what we have seen instead is sustained cross-border terrorism by Pakistan targeting the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir".

India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty is expected to have serious repercussions for Pakistan's agricultural economy, disrupting crucial water data sharing and reducing flows during key crop seasons, according to experts.

Brokered by the World Bank, the treaty allocates the eastern rivers -- Sutlej, Beas and Ravi -- to India and the western rivers -- Indus, Jhelum and Chenab -- to Pakistan. An average annual flow of around 135 MAF was largely allocated to Pakistan.

On Tuesday, India said it will keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan "credibly and irrevocably abjures" its support for cross-border terrorism.

"The Indus Waters Treaty was concluded in the spirit of goodwill and friendship as specified in the preamble of the treaty. However, Pakistan has held these principles in abeyance by its promotion of cross-border terrorism for decades," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a briefing.
