"A shell fired from Pakistan landed just behind the Christ School in Poonch" ::::::::::: Western media often sounds pro-Pakistani .... ::::: But acknowledges how India under Modi cultivated deeper ties with western countries including US

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, "..Around 300 to 400 drones were used (by Pakistan) to attempt infiltration at 36 locations...

Forensic investigation of the wreckage of the drones is being done.

Initial reports suggest that they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones..."

On Pakistan targeting schools and religious places along the LOC, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "... During heavy shelling across the LOC in the early morning of 7 May, a shell fired from Pakistan landed just behind the Christ School in Poonch.

The government highlighted that cross-border aggression wasn’t limited to drones. “Pakistan also carried out artillery shelling across the Line of Control using heavy caliber artillery guns and armed drones at Sunder, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Akhnoor and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir area, which resulted in some losses and injuries to Indian Army personnel."

Pak targeted 36 places with 300-400 'Turkish' drones: India on May 8 attack

The government said that the "possible purpose of these large-scale aerial intrusions were to test the air defence systems and gather intelligence."

The shell hit the home of two students of the school, who unfortunately lost their lives and their parents sustained injuries...

Several school staff and locals took refuge in an underground hall of the school during the shelling by Pakistan.

The school was fortunately closed, otherwise more losses would have occurred.

Pakistan is targeting and shelling places of worship with a particular design, including gurdwaras, churches and temples. This is a new low even for Pakistan."

'Wall Street Journal', the American newspaper says:

"Pakistan will likely feel compelled to respond to launching its own strikes of India....

Quoting Husain Haqani, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute and a former Pakistani ambassador to US, the paper says - Depending on what Pakistan targets and any damage and casualties, India could then decide to escalate further or allow tension to cool down.

"Do we get into a cycle of retaliation for retaliation," Haqani said.

The WSJ concludes the report with a liner -- If that happens - then we are in for huge trouble".

The report also says -- "Overt confrontation (reference to Operation Sindoor) now would invite a Pakistani response, said Ashley Tellis, an expert on Asian geopolitics at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. You open Pandora's box".

The specter of fresh conflict between the countries, which have fought three wars largely over the Muslim-majority region of  Kashmir, follows years of frosty peace.

Pakistan has been focused on economic crisis and political instability, while India turned to cultivating deeper ties with western countries including the US".
