"There is no chance of 'revival of violence' in Naga life and especially in the state of Nagaland," said former Minister and senior legislator Küzholüzo Azo Nienü.
In an informal tele conversation, he said - "What violence ... only peace. We are only for comfort and luxury. Who wants to take up arms ? Nagas are good pretenders .... very good pretenders. No one will like to go back to jungle".
However, he hastened to add: "I am stating all these in my personal capacity and to a very personal friend.
We know each other for so many years now. Sometime, I tell my people some people in Delhi are having more headache about Nagas than we Nagas ourselves.
We have no such headache. Sometime we may get stomach pain for taking Naga Mirchi".
"We are the happiest lot ... We have given up hard work and these days, we only run away from hardship. I see everyone around. Everybody is liking the luxury".
To a question, he said : "Therefore, there is a 'cool here baby' spirit. You keep writing Status quo .. status quo... well everyone wants status quo. Actually, everyone is happy doing and even not doing what's happening around.
Asked whether he is only expressing 'displeasure' by what he has been stating, the Phek legislator Azo (NPF) -
"Pleasure or displeasure ... sometime I want to open my heart to a very old friend. We do not want to encourage writers like you ... we do not want to discourage either.
"Sometimes, we are undecided. We are often deliberately indecisive. How can anyone from Delhi or Japan help such communities of people. Live life as it comes ... we like that idea. But we want comfort and all modern facilities".
Asked who is responsible for such a state of mind in the society today, -- "Who else...". But he declined to elaborate further on this.
But he then added: "The peace you see will remain ... there may be uneasy calm.
Still this calmness suits us. I can only add - No one will go back to jungles with guns or to the field for farming".
"In most Naga homes in urban and semi-urban towns -- even the Naga food we know as traditional Naga food in most homes is cooked and served by non-Nagas; and we are happy about it".
He further said - "Look, where we have landed up ourselves".
Continuing his free flow, the former Minister who has handled key portfolios such as Home and Health says:
Azo also argued quite eloquently :
"See, in our neighbourhood, the state of Assam has done well. All other north eastern states are also working hard. Each state has their own potentials. Mizoram is extremely serious about future... But I cannot say the same thing about Nagas especially in my state of Nagaland".
"Some problems like issues related to unemployment should be addressed at the local level. But we are not ready to identify the causes of the disease ... so treatment is miles away," he added.
