All eyes on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's interaction with Gen Z and Gen Alpha students from 100 cities

 Of course, there is a special significance to it. All these happening close on the heels of CJP protest in Delhi - that brought in resignation of Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and also showed that there is a growing gap between youngsters and the BJP, the RSS and even the Govt of PM Narendra Modi on the other. 

The general refrain is  - the connect is missing and the Centre could not gauge the mood of Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Even the near perfect 'communicator' Narendra Modi had to admit the past lapses and has recently started posting selfoe-video or reels -- a crazy among the new generation. 

The Generation Zee (Z) includes people born between 1997 and 2012. - roughly between 14 and 29 years old. 

On the other hand Gen Alpha includes those between 13 to 16 years old, That is, those who were born between 2010 and 2013.  

We can mention while Narendra Modi was chief minister of Gujarat between 2001 and 2014; he has been India's Prime Minister since May 26, 2014. In three Asian countries, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh -- Gen Z could hold noisy protest amid chaos in public life and brought in the regime change or the 'ouster' of the respective governments in power in Colombo, Kathmandu and Dhaka.  

In 2002 December, perhaps nobody, not even the then prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had quite expected the scale of the BJP's landslide yesterday. Narendra Modi-led BJP romped home with 126 seats in the 182-seat assembly. 

The opposition Congress - under the leadership of an ex RSS leader Shankersinh Vaghela experimenting with soft Hindutva was virtually wiped out. It could win only 51 seats.

The Lotus party's triumph was stunning and it was clearly due to one man - Gujarat's chief minister, Namo.

The religious riots witnessed in Gujarat in 2002 were unprecedented in India's recent history. Hindu mobs enraged by the Muslim burning of 59 Hindu pilgrims (Ram Bhakts) on a train in the town of Godhra, went on the rampage - burning, killing and assaulting more than 2,000 of their Muslim neighbours.

Much water has flown arund all rivers in India since then. 

In 2026, the Gen Z and Alpha staged a chaotic anti government and anti-Modi protest. Of course there were several factors including 'foreign help' and the social media to instigate crowd. The protesters even abused PM personally often using unpalatable language and phrases.

Bhagwat's programme on Aug 6th in Mumbai is being organised by the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN).

The event will bring together high school students aged 15 to 19, along with participants from schools and colleges across India. Organisers described it as a large youth-led conference. 

Is this a corrective step by the RSS following Jantar Mantar stir ?

There is lot to see because the CJP protest and confabulation with the central Govt is far from over. However, the CJP has been extremely selective and has so far declined to any protest against JMM-Congress Govt in Jharkhand and the AAP regime in Punjab. 

The northern states Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls in March 2027 along with Goa and Manipur.  

 

The BJP-ruled Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh under Congress will also have elections by Nov-December 2027. 

During the recent standoff in Delhi; RSS chief Bhagwat had called for greater engagement with young people. 

“Today’s youth need discussion, not dictation,” he said adding that leaders must build consensus instead of relying on authority. In other words, Bhagwat understands the 'gap' that has been created between the government apparatus and individual leaders on one hand and the Gen Z on the other.  

But Modi's personal image and his strong Hindutva-driven nationalistic policy and development cards are still worth it. There is nothing to suggest that the BJP has grown nervous even as Akhilesh Yadav (of SP) has used the phrase "jhukane wala chahiye" to tease the Modi regime.  

Mod's detractors say his politics and electoral strategies are most often communal and fascist. But they work brilliantly. 

What then are the implications of Modi's polity vis-a-vis India's future as a secular state.

Along with students and their parents - a large number of other social groups who hate PM Modi (like Muslims, Leftists etc) also took part in the Delhi protest. The crowd included youngsters in large numbers. 

Therefore, to make its 'experiment' with the youths successful; the RSS may face some tough questions too.

Between CJP supporters and Opposition parties on one side and the BJP on the other hand; what has been "harvested" are the fruits of hate and suspicion.

This is extremely worrying for a pluralist and a vast country like India.

However, the BJP and the Hindutva supporters say their agenda of majoritarian communalism is not so bad as made out to be by those influencers and deep pocket who want the ouster of Narendra Modi.
