The thrill of risk and despair of loss ::: Human beings are addicted to that which 'destroys' us ::::: Ego dominates Naga talks .... Peace and Solution should stand way above anything

The fictional work 'The Gambler' by Fyodor Dostoevsky makes an interesting reading.

It explores the psychological depths of addiction, using Alexei Ivanovich's experiences to illustrate how gambling can consume a person, leading to self-destruction and a loss of morality.

The novel delves into the addictive nature of gambling, the thrill of risk, and the subsequent despair of loss, offering a powerful commentary on human psychology.

The author also writes: "... We are addicted to that which Destroys us".

The BJP has to take the final call. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now extremely busy - thanks to his 'friend' Donald Trump.

Trade tariffs and Russian oil besides Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi's shocking remarks vis-a-vis 'atom bomb' each day will have to be handled based on their merits and nuisance value. But elsewhere things appear challenging.

The eastern front offers multiple challenges. Bihar has elections round the corner, in West Bengal - stormy petrel Mamata Banerjee is now championing the cause of linguistic parochialism.

Trinamool Congress thinks - Hindu and Muslim Bengalis and even Bangladeshi immigrants will unite and save her seat in 2026.

In Manipur, things are being worked on but too early to feel optimistic. In neighbouring Nagaland - things revolve around pessimism.

Aug 3rd was the 10th anniversary of signing of the Framework Agreement and the NSCN-IM now says

"....to work with the NNPGs is a dangerous proposition".

The refrain from NSCN-IM chairman Q Tuccu is that the working committee of the NNPGs “propagate Naga political solution under the Constitution of India”.

This is truly a case of 'affirming' the divide.

Now, the NNPGs will issue two statements presumably as for their part -- they are also divided lot.

A key faction of NSCN led by N Kitovi Zhimom has split and hence there are two NNPG working committee these days.

From Delhi's point of view, the delay in inking the final Solution pact has reached a "sickening stage".

As the saying goes, sometimes people may be in love with pessimism.

This comes from negativity and the protagonists display sheer 'selective blindness'. They see and believe only --- what they want to.

A Naga militant and his flag

In July some hopes were created. Now what New Delhi as in hands is a case of 'backtracking' by the NSCN-IM. This group headed by the 91-year-old aging and now ailing Thuingaleng Muivah had committed to work together with other forces.
But now it's different tune.

Even Nagaland Congress leaders presumed that things were progressing and hence a delegation had rushed to brief Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Naga issue.

However, the silence from the civil society is worse. Bolero ride is the key.

The root cause of delay in working out the Solution has to be diagnosed by the Prime Minister or PMO quickly. Home Minister Amit Shah has to pull up his sleeves.

Get rid off the regime of BJP-NDPP government at Kohima. More than half the problems will be resolved. As long as a 'friendly' dispensation with avenues to play with money and power will continue no much tangible progress is expected. The protagonists are just scared of any change.

The present mess suits the Status Quo club.

Lately a political outfit led by one failed Neta tried to play a conscience keeper and attacked central government's peace emissary. These Babus have their hands tied.

They may not have even the authorization to speak to media or issue any statement out of turn. They cannot defend themselves. They are bound by 'conduct rules' - a few more stricter ones if they have to work under hard taskmasters Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

The RPP can now test its guts and question militant groups and others why "they will not work together" with other Naga individuals and groups.

Some people believe - my way or the highway. This essentially comes from the communists backdrop of training and indoctrination.

Narendra Modi has guts. Amit Shah is a decisive leader too.

Time to act. Handle the parrot which is the mighty source of inspiration for the Status Quo club. It's time Nagaland should be taken the Manipur way.

As Late Chandrashekhar had told I K Gujral once that the latter should 'get angry' with himself. In Nagaland, Chief Minister Rio and his Team also should get angry with themselves.

Avoiding Solution may lead to bigger disasters.

Yes, President's Rule is a mild medicine.

It  is said - A doctor is not just a healer but a source of hope and comfort for those in pain.  Extortion and non performance being the order of the day making mockery of the Double Engine government; Namo should now turn himself into a good doctor.
