Truth about money is - it's never enough ::: Same goes about Power .... :::: Why a prominent Naga businessman asked his friends "Will NDPP leadership live for next 200 years"? :::: "Give me enough of that and I'd fear no one"

Truth about Politics and Power is like that of the Money - it's never enough.

People will perceive a perpetual need for more wealth and authoritative power, regardless of their income or assets, often fueled by a capitalist culture of consumption and family and social pressure. Money is essential for basic needs and Power may be for 'security' if nothing else; but the pursuit of wealth and power alone (or together) may still not bring a lasting contentment.

A prominent Naga businessman asked his friends - "Will NDPP leadership live for next 200 years"?

He may have his logic or may not.

It's like re-examining a few philosophical questions - Where do we go at the end ? From where did we come ?

Let's get back to the roots - the contemporary politics.

Once upon a time Chingwang Konyak, founding and still in office NDPP president, said - "I am not a rubber stamp president". Those were Congress days and S C Jamir was the cow-boy style power centre.

Those were different days no doubt and a smart operator Chingwang also had said - the relationship between party president (pradesh Congress chief)  and legislative wing leader (CLP) should be like husband and wife.

In 2025 -- at the global level - nuclear family structure and values have changed.

Man with the 'master key' - which is not being used

The family-breaking and divorce is very common. My friend in Mizoran a decade back told me - "I kicked her out".

He was little drunk and he does not mind calling himself a male chauvinist. "So are you man" - he left the complimentary words for this blogger as well.

Today, in the NDPP - those outside the party do not know who is the 'husband' and who is the 'wife'.

But we know who calls the shot. The aging wife or an aging husband in the 21st century may be just passing his or her time.

In any case; an argument will be put forward - What's happening in the NDPP is nobody's concern. True !

However, what will happen when the proposed NPF-NDPP merger takes place is Naga peoples interest - both in Nagaland and in Manipur.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla - as the first citizen in both the states must also take note of these.

In the new home -- will there be a new name plate? Generally - since UDF, NDPP, NPC and NPF - regionalists have always changed their names.

UDF - had one Chief Minister - veteran Vizol. NDPP - also one - J B Jasokie. NPC - had two CMs - K L Chishi and Vamuzo and NPF - already had three -- Neiphiu Rio, T R Zeliang and Shurhozelie.

One takeaway - the Tenimiya bias is visible.

Protagonist Neta : CM Rio with his love for Rooster

blogger - a faceless journo

Nevertheless, the Rooster may be the favoured bird and 'Globe (present NDPP symbol) will be where the globe should be -- the dust or the adorable bin called Legacy.

Spinning into all that is Thuinagleng Muivah's proposed move to visit Somdal village. His "nephew" in Kohima will like all that.

But what about protagonist from Phek Mr Azo Nienu. As a smart regionalist and a 'fighting cock' that he has been -- Azo will like something in return in the entire bargain.

Shurhozelie - though retired - will not want a 'cakewalk' for any northern Angami-II man to take control of the cock. His veto left people leaking their wounds in 2023.

But it goes without stating that the NDPP leadership - the judge and the jury - will like to give some signals to the Home Ministry in Delhi that Kohima stakeholder has (or can) control over half a dozen MLAs and one MP in Manipur also.

Does it change the bigger bargain ? - We never know. More precisely the question should be what is the bigger bargain !!

It may be like asking 'will a man live for 200 years'? Or given a Tolstoy type intelligence - one may also ask 'How much or 'how long' the power rope-way does a man need'.

Thomas Paine (1737-1806), American scholar, said in his legendary work 'The Age of Reason' that the greatest tyranny in the world is to tie the future generation to a set of dogmas and beliefs.

Leo Tolstoy's 'How Much Land Does a Man Need? -- has some wonderful thought provoking lines -- "My only grievance is that I don't have enough land.... Give me enough of that and I'd fear no one—not even the Devil himself!".

'Enough' -- is a self-sufficient word by itself.  Devil knows his business as well.

The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving something too much. It could be power or money or the both.

Does this statement hit the target with pitiless black humour ?

Coming back to real polity once again.

I have a thoughtful Naga friend - a student activist of NSF days turned Neta.

He is not happy with himself and his 'present' political party. But he is clueless for the next move. There are scores of others. They have one thing in common  ---

They do not want to support the present dispensation.

And here lies the root of their grievances and causes of all confusion.

Because they do not like the NDPP-BJP regime -- they cannot join NDPP and BJP. But the kind of conditions the Nagaland politics is --- they do not want to join the Congress and even the NPF.

Who knows -- parties like NPF and Congress may one day support Neiphiu Rio.

Everybody is keeping fingers crossed around few possible questions --

How long will NDPP manage this 40-20 (totally unfair) political deal with the BJP?

And - in 2028 - will BJP again oblige NDPP or try to contest 30 seats or more ? -- These two questions will decide the future of Nagaland politics ?

Naga underground Soldiers of a popular movement

My friend and his friends together -- they do not have the killer instinct to float a new party - presuming that such a new outfit will require deep pockets and may not be able to make a mark.

To play a 'survivor neta' beyond 2028 they will need a political stage -- which will be considered a serious platform. And that's not around for the time being.

If Solution comes -- the NNPG will fill in that vacant slot. This is making the status quo club develop cold feet whenever someone asks :

-- When is the Solution coming ??

**

Finally, the resilience and ingenuity of Nagaland politics will be actually tested by three trends or yardsticks --

First- the advent of an X factor : Which political party or which leader will fight Neiphiu Rio !

Second -- the changing dynamics of BJP's approach in Nagaland - vis-a-vis Solution and its future plans in the Christian-dominated tribal state.

Is it keen to fight Rio at all ?

And thirdly -- the demography or the voters. What do they really want on the election day (take and give) and later count the eggs - poll verdict results !!

Nature has Solution ?
