"We can contribute to each other's success...," says Chinese foreign minister ::: Dr Jaishankar says -- Peace on border crucial for good and smooth India-China ties

"Discussing border issues is very important because the basis for any positive momentum in our ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas," External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said in his opening remarks before parleys with a Chinese delegation led his counterpart Wang Yi.

"It is also essential that the de-escalation process moves forward," Jaishankar said.

"Differences must not become disputes nor competition, conflict..," he hastened to add.
