Tavleen Singh's latest column in 'Indian Express' says : "It is time our Opposition leaders noticed how much they have helped the Prime Minister".
What a shame !! Oh boy !!
Tavleen is not a blind Modi Bhakt. And she is pointing out at the wrong strategies of the opposition.
This is the truth of life and truth of Indian politics today.
Enough considerations have been given to Rahul Gandhi - who always ends up cutting a sorry figure with his slogans and allegations ranging from Rafael to Vote Chori.
When his sycophants including a good number of Sickular gang intellectuals and journalists say "sir you are genius". He gets flattered.
When the Manmohan Singh Govt was in power; the BJP too stalled Parliament ... the issue was Corruption ... Lokpal. The Lotus party benefited politically and as each day passed the Congress went on defensive and their self-created clueless strategies were of no help.
They tried to help Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP later took away the Congress space in Delhi for 10 years.
In Punjab also; the AAP came to power.
When BJP protested against Manmohan Singh Govt, entire India was convinced Congress and UPA were corrupt.
By Aug-Sept 2012, eight years of UPA regime meant multiple scandals.
There was a Coalgate. The CAG had alluded to kickbacks and dubious deals in the allocation of 2G telecom licences, leading to a US $32 billion loss.
Corruption on a massive scale was also alleged in the organizing of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi as well as a housing scheme for widows of war victims and the privatization of Delhi airport.
These scandals all resulted in a round of resignations and the imprisonment of several ministers and executives. The fungus of corruption had eaten into all spheres of life
2012 protest by communist and other MPs - a few are dead now
In 2025, the Opposition is protesting against Modi but common people give damn to Rahul Gandhi's misplaced argument on issues.
Even other opposition parties are unable to highlight genuine issues which concern people and which can possibly give them political mileage.

Manmohan Singh : Was cornered by BJP's anti-corruption crusade |
Two things should happen urgently -- the Congress should replace Rahul Gandhi as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha -- and definitely a more effective party president should come in.
The third thing that should be done is the other opposition parties should float a forum - at least for proper floor coordination in parliament and keep Congress out of it.
I think all my suggestions are do-able but will not be done.
Another big problem is several opposition parties - NCP (of Sharad Pawar), Trinamool of Mamata, YSRCP -- all are out of Congress bloc. The DNA cannot be changed.
"In a parliamentary democracy, there is no institution more important than parliament because it represents the will of the people. So, when our elected representatives spend their time on protests and placards instead of on debates, they let down those who voted for them." -- this is not a rocket science stated by Tavleen Singh.
'Operation Sindoor' was an occasion to celebrate.
The monsoon session of Parliament provided that window to the opposition including the Congress to give a message to people that they also feel proud every bit when Indian soldiers teach Pakistanis a lesson for generations. They should have lauded the Indian forces and scientists. PM Narendra Modi would have got some credit but in the process; the opposition parties could have endeared themselves to the voters.
Instead Rahul Gandhi came out with his most "illogical and a pathetic" case against Election Commission. The damage has been immense and all other opposition parties who got excited with crown prince's misguided press conference will play a big price in the long term.
This is where Tavleen Singh is right -- the opposition parties are just helping Modi.
They could not capitalise the unprecedented divide between RSS and Modi-Shah camps on BJP's organisational polls and the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Frankly, the Prime Minister got over these challenges so comfortably only because the opposition parties do not know how to play their games. They also do not know 'what' issues to play.
One George Fernandes and Atal Bihari Vajpayee would have depended a lot on a good parliamentary debate. The Opposition and the present Opposition leaders instead opted for street fight.
Rahul's intellect guided by urban-naxal think tank has limitations. Why should others also fall in line.
The problem is not only Congress party; most other opposition parties are run by a dynastic-dictatorship culture.
In Trinamool Congress the Pishi and Bhaipo cannot be wrong. In Samajwadi Party - Akhikesh Yadav is the boss and he hardly bothers to learn the politics of his late father. In 1999, Mulayam Singh Yadav played a historical role in denying Prime Ministership to Sonia Gandhi when the then President K R Narayanan was too keen to oblige her.
That was politics -- a glimpse of real polity.
The DMK also does not have the skills of veteran Karunanidhi.
Therefore, the necessary corrective measures are not coming.
Look what Tavleen says ---
"... an odd conspiracy theory occurred to me. Could the Congress party be acting as a secret agent for Narendra Modi?
"Or are its leaders too removed from reality to notice that every time they shout slogans when they should be making laws, they harm themselves and not the Prime Minister?
He sits quietly with a smug half-smile on his face and watches until the sloganeering gets so out of control that both Houses end up adjourned.
Again. And again, session after session."
I have stated these number of times that Rahul Gandhi is the single biggest asset of the Prime Minister.
The Lok Sabha functioned for 29% of its scheduled time and the Rajya Sabha for 34% and each adjournment made Modi and his floor managers happy.
Tavleen again points out:
"And, while his MPs were disrupting Parliament, the Leader of the Opposition wandered off to Bihar on yet another ‘yatra’, perhaps forgetting that some very important laws were being passed without debate.
It should come as no surprise when I tell you that there are serious political pundits in Delhi who say, wearily wiping the sweat from their foreheads, that Modi’s greatest asset is Rahul Gandhi."
It is true, Modi began his third term in office, much 'humbled' by the voters having denied him a full majority.
But unlike Congress and other opposition parties; the BJP learned its lessons pretty fast.
Modi himself knew what went wrong with the voters. It was not being pro-Hindutva or not being a catalyst of development. It was much grounded an issue - arrogance.
There came in quick introspection. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat declared publicly that those who genuinely served the nation did not take personal credit or make silly boasts.
Modi and Amit Shah did not make a big fuss. They focused tirelessly on Haryana and Maharashtra polls and turned the game.
In contrast, Congress was sure of winning Haryana and Maharashtra even without fighting it seriously.
In a parliamentary democracy, there is no institution more important than parliament. There are critical issues that need to be addressed when the country faces external enemies and intern challenges too.
But Opposition virtually spared Modi and targeted the Election Commission for all ills.
