‘DIGITAL FASTING’
PM Modi asked students not to be enslaved by gadgets, as these devices are not smarter than a human brain/children/students themselves.
He urged them to not be distracted by technology and allot separate time to use mobile phone or other gadgets for interaction on social media platforms.
He asked parents/students to create a ‘no gadgets zone’ in the house where they will not use any kind of technological device and just use the time for conversations, which he termed ‘digital fasting’.
‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ is my exam too, crores of students are taking my test: PM Modi
“I believe that constructive criticism requires a lot of preparation, analysis and observation and is fruitful for a successful person or a leader or anyone for that matter.
But when it is just blaming a person or a child, it is deconstructive, especially for impressionable minds. I urge both children and parents to learn to differentiate between the two. They must criticise children after careful observation and not small-time blaming on petty issues,” said Modi.
“If a family’s expectation from its children is due to societal pressure then it’s a problem…We are in politics where huge pressure is created for victory. You must match expectations with ability. You must always stay focused,” said PM Modi.
Modi also said:
“If you do better, there’s probable pressure from your surroundings to do even more better. No one is spared from this. Just like you, even if we have to suffer this in our political lives; the excellent results of elections are always expected to be ‘more excellent’. So, worry not; just strive to give your best along with being stress-free and jubilant".
The Prime Minister said -
“Not only for exams, but we should also be aware of time management at every stage of our life. You make such a slab that first give time to the subject which you like less… after that give time to the subject which you like,” he said.
“Have you ever observed your mother’s time management skills? A mother never feels burdened by the immense work she does. If you observe your mother, then you will understand how to manage your time well,” said PM Modi to students.
He further urged parents not to pressure their children.
DON’T BE SUPPRESSED BY PRESSURE, STAY FOCUSED
This was in response to a question asked by a number of students from different regions on how to handle high expectations and family pressure of doing well in exams.
The PM said the expectations are fine unless they are based on social status of the parents in terms of how other children in their society are doing in comparison to their own.
He also urged students to stay focused and not underestimate their own potential and not to get suppressed by pressure.
