'Guwahati Meet' on Jan 30 holds key to several Naga questions

Outcome crucial for ENPO, Solution and Polls

New Delhi/Guwahati

It will be probably one those meetings in a decade's time. The outcome of the deliberations could decide the fate of several politicians and also decide the future turn of events vis-a-vis the Naga 'roadmap' for Eastern Nagaland as well as for the Solution.

The centre's Advisor- North East, A K Mishra will be meeting leaders from Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) and other key leaders from Eastern Nagaland on Monday, Jan 30 in Guwahati wherein all issues will be discussed threadbare.

Of course the ENPO leaders have been meeting Mr Mishra time and again. "The significance of Jan 30, Monday, meeting lies in the fact that all seven tribal bodies will also be represented in the meeting. The views of tribal bodies vis-a-vis the future of Eastern Nagaland and ensuing Nagaland elections have become important as these organisations have given a clamour call for boycott of the polls," a source said.

Those in the know of things suggest the centre is keen to enlist 'the free and frank' views of these tribal bodies as they have also threatened to "expel" any leaders and politicians who will file nominations for February elections.

The Jan 30 meeting will hence see the crucial deliberations and outcome will be again critical for the people of six districts in Eastern Nagaland . The region wants a separate state carved out of the 16th state of Indian Union but the ENPO leaders feel that the stand taken by the 20 sitting legislators have complicated things for them.

When the then two -- Tuensang and Mon - districts were included in the 1960s to be 'part of the 16th state of Indian union that is the present day state of Nagaland', there were a lot of hopes and aspirations for seven tribes from this region. But the general complaint now is that this region has been failed by mainstream Nagaland.

Seven tribes - Konyaks, Sangtams, Changs, Phoms, Khiamniungans, Yimchungrus and Tikhirs are native communities from this region.

Interestingly, at least one representative from each tribe will participate on Monday's discussions.

The representatives from gazetted officers' bodies and 'Naga National Workers Union' (of underground leaders and cadres) are also part of the ENPO system. How much the Naga National Workers Union will influence the future course of actions remains to be seen.

It is not quite clear whether Monday meeting outcome is being linked to BJP's finalisation of tickets for Nagaland polls.

There were four BJP MLAs from the Eastern Nagaland in 2018. They were P. Paiwang Konyak, S. Pangyu Phom, H Haiying and V Kashiho Sangtam.

The BJP Central Election Committee meeting is likely only on Monday evening
or even Tuesday (Jan 31). The Budget session of Parliament begins on Jan 31 with the Presidential address and next day the Finance Minister will present the Budget 2023-24.

"This year's Budget will be the last full fledged Budget for the Modi Govt 2.0 before 2024 parliamentary poll," a source said implying the top BJP guns will be probably 'more than busy' on Jan 31.

Politics - a fickle lady - can take a turn anytime :::::: Big boss should not fail his admirers

New Delhi

If failures are pillars of bigger success; what's a deliberate failure? My Leader has a rich history of applying unique strategies for solving problems, especially on issues of nationalism and fighting anti-India elements.

Hence, even in the worst of seasons, there will be a ray of hope. The leader may favour initial chaos to take the most decisive step. Is that a fair method? One is not sure. But at the end of the game, inferences of experiments will count and go down the memory lane and not trials and errors. We are in a mess.

As if, we are on a phantom train and the doors are locked, we cannot get off....and the

bigger worry is that the locomotive has quickly gathered momentum. But Big Boss is always right !

Is he encouraging the mess?

Our leader is also capable of surprising friends and foes alike. In fact, he rejoices

the surprising punch. Is such a punch coming, should they prepare the belly to take the hit?

Amid a plethora of problems, what we get to know is that the Solution is far off. But on the ground,

we know that the people's demand is exactly the opposite. Every individual except a few select

self-seeking clubs, believe that people are crying out to hear some good words such as Solution, Development and

lasting Peace with 'revived values'.

As these are not coming, this is a moment of deep anguish and hence our people and the entire society

is trembling with anxiety. But who has the answer? The owner of the garden; or

the village headmaster who controls a not so bright student and puts him on the

job to water a lotus garden?

With regard to another state, a Muslim and a Communist came smiling and obliged the Leader

and his party. These also were unthinkables. So, why is something in people's admiration and

dream in our case is not materialising in this case.

A few years ago in another piece of land -- that is in a colder region with a lot of snow --

the same 'anxiety' prevailed. The Big Boss had his answers ready.

If we do not go to the Big Boss now, our conventional wisdom says, we will suffer and

one day some people and their logic may perish. But who is this Big Boss?

-- Only an individual who is acknowledged as anti-faith. He is also an elitist and to his critics

also 'responsible' for poverty, taking away currency notes, other sufferings etc etc. Even Documentary films

are outlawed.

But in this case, he is now being seen as the only 'saviour'. The Leader is keeping an eye and hopefully he

will act. But he needs 'more ground to be covered' by the inertia-oriented tools of change.

His admirers have a high opinion about him. They will swear that he is not going to waste time or his energy playing politics! Can anything escape his sight ? A people's leader will neglect people's views, should we believe that?

For the people of 'my land', which is composed of faceless voters, the military, the armed militants and helpless civilians, in different measures, there is my Boss as always. But will he deliver this time?

Or, is there a bigger mission in the failure?
