P V Sindhu wins Bronze :::: Indian Men Hockey makes it to Semi Finals....great thing to happen after 41 years

New Delhi: Indian Hockey team men will play in Olympic Semi Finals for the first time since 1972. 

The Men in Blue on Sunday beat Great Britain 3-1 in Quarter Final. 

Of course, India won Gold in Moscow Olympics 1980 beating Spain in the final.

This is a major achievement for Indian Hockey as the new glory comes after as many as 41 years. 

Indian men’s hockey team led by Manpreet Singh today beat Great Britain 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Great achievement after 1972.
Indian team lost just a single match in group stage. India last won an Olympic medal in hockey in 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.


Earlier Barring the disappointment against Australia (1-7) in their second game in the Pool A matches, India did well to finish second in their pool with substantial wins against New Zealand (3-2), Spain (3-0), Argentina (3-1) and Japan (5-3).



Twitteraits have gone gaga welcoming the milestone. 

"Welcome to semifinals. Pheww what a match ot was. Shrejesh, the Dravid of Indian Hockey. Congratulations Team India" - tweeted Sudhir Rishi. 

Another missive complimented the goal keeper.

New Delhi: Scripting history for herself and the nation, shutter  P V Sindhu won Bronze medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
It's writing of a new and golden chapter in India's Badminton history as she became the 1st female from India to have won two Olympics Medals.


In 2016, Sindhu had won Silver and this time Bronze having placed herself as No. 3.



President Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet wrote:"P V Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic games. She has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to her for bringing glory to India".

You dominated the game and made history," tweeted  Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.

An Olympic medalist twice over! Third place medal. India is so proud of you and awaits your return, Thakurwrote on the micro blogging site.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also congratulated Sindhu and wrote:

"Well done! Congratulate @Pvsindhu1 on her historic win to secure the Bronze medal in #Tokyo2020 #Badminton finals. Her triumph, the consecutive Olympic medals and grit is both exemplary and inspiring. Wish her my best," he tweeted.
