'People's support is my protective shield against the arrows of abuse and lies” -- says PM Modi

"Over the years, an important study has been done on the 'Rise and fall of India's Congress Party': PM Modi in Lok Sabha

“Some people here have a craze for Harvard studies. During Covid, it was said that there will be a case study on devastation in India. Over the years, an important study has been done at Harvard and the subject of study is the 'Rise and fall of India's Congress Party': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha, targeted the Congress saying the period of “2004-2014 was a decade of scams and violence” and that the “UPA’s trademark was to let every opportunity turn into crisis from 2004-2014.”

He also said that there is hope in every sector in the country, but “some people are steeped in frustration due to the people’s mandate against them.” He said India now has a stable and decisive government and that reforms have been brought in out of conviction, not compulsion.

"It's not only historic to have Droupadi Murmu as the Head of the Republic, but she also inspires the women of the country."

"When President's address was going on, some people avoided it.A tall leader even insulted the President. They displayed hatred against ST. When such things were said on TV, the sense of hatred deep within came out. Attempt was made to save oneself after writing a letter later".

PM Modi took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi's unfurling tricolour at Srinagar's Lal Chowk during the recently concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that he already did so in January 1992 despite threat from terrorists, and without security.

"In entire world there is positive vibes about India....G20 is a matter of pride for 140 crore people. But it seems some people are not happy about that also" .

"Those who are drunk in arrogance and think that only they have the knowledge, feel that only by abusing Modi will a way come out, that only through false, nonsensical mudslinging on Modi will a path be paved. It has been 22 years, they still have a misapprehension".

On the country’s growing digital infrastructure and technological prowess, Mr. Modi said, India is emerging as a manufacturing hub. He said, the country has emerged as the world's third-largest start-up ecosystem having more than 90 thousand start-ups. He underlined that the country has made stupendous growth in various sectors including mobile manufacturing, domestic air travel, energy consumption, renewable energy and sports. He said, his Government believes in reforms not out of compulsion but out of conviction.

He criticised the Opposition parties for spreading despair despite the country has made significant progress in several sectors. He said, the Indian economy was in a bad condition and inflation reached double digits from 2004 to 2014. He said, incidents of terrorism had devastated the country during the UPA regime. The Prime Minister also highlighted the various scams during the UPA regime and termed 2004-2014 as a lost decade.

Modi said, the President has given direction to the nation and the country is now filled with self-confidence and pride. He said, the country's tribal communities are feeling proud and their self-esteem has received a boost.

He said, India has become the 5th largest economy in the world despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, instability and conflicts, rising inflation and unemployment in several countries elsewhere in the world. He said, India's presidency of G-20 is a moment of pride for the country. He said, India has a government that is stable and decisive which has generated an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
