When there is a 'new Santa Claus' :::: Naga Solution is 'adorable' .... because it saves Neta's money

'But how much will this cost the state of Nagaland' ?
......

".....thank you Solution - a 'new Santa Claus' for the political class"

New Delhi

In international politics, a term often used is 'diplomatic billiard'. It means you hit one ball and ultimately another ball standing isolated and innocuous will get into the hole.

The Naga leaders are good at this indoor game.

Politicians and especially the 'wise 60 men' may not be too favourable to Solution-- because for some it will be like signing the death warrant.

Nevertheless, they do not mind the word any longer.

Especially during the pre-election season, Solution is a good shield.

Some netas thankfully admit that just by talking about Solution they are able to 'save money'.

"This Christmas season is always an expensive season of the year for Naga politicians. It's more on the eve of any election. But in 2022, we Netas are getting a cushion, we do not have to do the usual running and meetings. So, when we say there is nothing more to speak about Naga political issue, we are able to save some money.

So thank you Solution - a new Santa Claus for the political class," one of them explained on the condition of anonymity.

Rio: Is he being a statusquoist CM ?

It may be mentioned here that during the last few days Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has started speaking more about Solution. On Nov 5, Friday, Rio said at a function in Zunheboto that though elections are round the corner, the legislators and political leaders "have decided not to start campaigning and instead work for settlement".

In any case, Rio is not alone. But certainly as the elected Chief Minister of the state and as leaders of the state MLAs he is truly the first among the equals.

Another legislator - from another party - when confronted lately said, "It's better to talk more about Solution

than Election as we can save some money. Ultimately of course, we will have to spend for people only

by January and February".

Of course, elections in Nagaland are always considered very expensive affairs. Even in comparison to polls in neighbouring states such as Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya, elections are hugely expensive affairs in the state.

Regionalist stalwart Shurhozelie: Nagaland awaits his 'moral' missive

In 2018, one senior leader of a national party said, "Well, my party has provided some funds, but my people's expectations are more".

It goes without saying, the Congress - which was ousted in the state in 2003 - could field only 18 candidates as there was a huge fund crunch. There was also a major political row over the same between Naga leaders and the then Congress in-charge C P Joshi.

During a civic reception hosted on November 2, Chief Minister Rio had informed President Droupadi Murmu that the Government of India has recognised the unique history of the Nagas.

Rio also had said. “We seek your gracious (President's) support in resolving the long-pending political issue".

Earlier this year, the Home Ministry extended the ceasefire agreements with Naga groups by a year.

Ultimately it seems the politicians are taking the people for a ride and all they want is status quo.

Who will bell the cat, is a million dollar question amid a thought process that the so-called 'paving the way' and role of facilitators have also gone for a toss.

The Neta class wants to silence the common people and the civil society groups are apparently in a fix and they do not know how much this 'silence' will cost the state of Nagaland yet again.
