NPP Nagaland unit may have a greater political mission :::: Says "Conduct a thorough audit of all police facilities" ::::: It calls for Infrastructure Restoration in Nagaland Police

This was a long overdue issue.

"Urgent Call for Infrastructure Restoration in Nagaland Police Department"

BJP leader and deputy CM Y Patton is Nagaland Home Minister since 2018.

In 1998 under S C Jamir government, Neiphiu Rio held the Home portfolio till he parted ways with the Congress.

"Infrastructure development in the Nagaland Police Department is not merely a matter of comfort but a critical factor in ensuring law and order, public safety, and operational efficiency," the NPP Nagaland unit said in a statement.

The party led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also urges the state government headed by NDPP-BJP dispensation to accord the highest priority to this issue.

NPP is also a BJP ally in Meghalaya.

The statement said the National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit, wishes to draw the attention of the public and the State Government to the urgent and long-standing "infrastructure challenges" faced by the Nagaland Police Department, including the Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) and Indian Reserve (IR) battalions.

"Police personnel, who serve under demanding conditions to maintain law and order across the State, continue to operate in facilities that require significant repair, renovation, and modernization," said a statement issued by the Media & Public Relations Cell of NPP, Nagaland.

"These conditions not only affect the morale and welfare of our personnel but also directly impact the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the police forces in fulfilling their duties to the people of Nagaland."

The key areas of concern include --

Accommodation and Barracks

Many police personnel live in overcrowded and poorly maintained quarters. The lack of proper living arrangements for officers and staff contributes to fatigue, lower morale, and reduced efficiency.

Providing dignified accommodation is essential to the well-being of personnel, particularly those deployed in challenging areas or on extended duty.

Training and Operational Facilities

Modern policing requires specialized training, physical fitness, and operational preparedness, yet training facilities remain insufficient and outdated.

Classrooms, training grounds, and physical fitness facilities are often inadequate, limiting personnel’s ability to undertake drills, tactical exercises, and skill development programs, the statement said.

It also spoke about - Mess and Ration Facilities

"Proper nutrition is essential for personnel engaged in physically and mentally demanding duties. Several units continue to face shortages in ration supply and inadequate kitchen and mess facilities, which adversely affect the health, morale, and efficiency of personnel."

Administrative and Communication Infrastructure

Administrative offices, record rooms, and communication centers are often outdated and ill-equipped, impacting overall efficiency and coordination. Modern offices, secure communication networks, and technology-enabled systems are essential for effective policing in today’s environment.

Impact of Infrastructure Deficiencies:

Reduced morale and motivation among personnel.

Lower operational efficiency and preparedness during critical law and order situations.

Challenges in retaining trained and experienced personnel.

Risk of compromised safety and security of both police personnel and the public.

Dy CM Patton and police officials

Recommendations by NPP:

-- The NPP strongly recommended that the State Government should take immediate and decisive steps to address the infrastructure challenges in police and also demanded a "Comprehensive Infrastructure Audit"

-- "Conduct a thorough audit of all police facilities to identify buildings, barracks, training areas, messes, and administrative offices that require urgent repair, renovation, or replacement."

Adequate and Dedicated Funding:

Allocate sufficient funds for the renovation, restoration, and modernization of police infrastructure, with clear timelines and accountability for completion.

Timely Execution of Projects:

Establish proper monitoring mechanisms to ensure ongoing infrastructure projects are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.

Modernization and Technology Integration:

Upgrade facilities to include technology-enabled training centers, secure communication networks, and modern administrative offices.

Welfare-Oriented Improvements:

Improve living conditions, mess facilities, and overall welfare infrastructure to support the dignity, efficiency, and motivation of personnel.

Conclusion:

Infrastructure development in the Nagaland Police Department is not merely a matter of comfort but a critical factor in ensuring law and order, public safety, and operational efficiency. The NPP urges the State Government to accord the highest priority to this issue and take immediate steps to strengthen the capabilities and welfare of our police personnel.

Trumpism 'caught behind' :::: China's push to automate manufacturing leaves Americans .... far behind at No. 3

It could be shocking but the changing dynamics of world and the geo-strategic issues do not sound good for Americans. Factories in China have installed nearly 3 lakh new robots in 2024.

This was against only 34,000 by the US and China's tally is "more than the rest of the world combined", reports 'New York Times'.

It has been also reported that Factories in China have installed more than 150,000 robots each year since 2017. At the same time, manufacturing output ballooned.

By the start of this year, factories in China were making nearly a third of all manufactured goods worldwide, more than the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Britain combined.

Chinese factories now make up a third of all manufactured goods worldwide, more than the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Britain combined.

The number of robotic installations fell last year across the next four robot-using companies – Japan, the United States, South Korea, and Germany, compared to 2023.

Until 2024, China installed more imported robots in its factories than home-made machines. Last year, however, three-fifths of the total robots installed were manufactured in the country.

Overall, China has five times as many robots functioning in factories as the United States.

China is also locking horns with the U.S. and other nations over creating better humanoids. Unitree Robotics, based in Hangzhou, is seen as a leader in creating cheaper humanoids for the country at scale.

Unitree’s basic humanoids are priced at $6,000, and the company plans to go public by the end of 2025. They are made at a fraction of the price of Boston Dynamics’ robots, a key player in the American robotics industry.

China has a large pool of skilled electricians and computer programmers who can install robots. Still, it has faced some shortages of installation specialists, driving salaries up to nearly $60,000 a year.

The country also has a strong AI industry focused on monitoring and improving every aspect of factory equipment performance.

Patriotism and Politics make a very special Cocktail along with Cricket !! :::: India refuses to take Asia Cup from Pak cricket chief Naqvi :: PM Modi says - "It's Operation Sindoor' in the games too

WEALTH means freedom to choose  !!

Patriotism after Cricket win makes you more powerful !!

India denied Asia Cup after refusing it from PCB chief, celebrate empty-handed

It was one of the most bizarre scenes in cricket history.

The victorious Indian team celebrated without the trophy on the dials in Dubai.

Suryakumar Yadav said India were denied the trophy after it emerged that the team refused to receive it from Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi.

In the just concluded tournament India won all three encounters against its traditional rival.

And even won the final match !!

It was India's ninth Asia Cup title, following a five-wicket win in a thrilling final on Sunday.

The win drew massive cheers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a reference to Operation Sindoor.

"Operation Sindoor on the games field. The outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers," PM Modi said in a post on X.

The reference to Operation Sindoor and connecting it with Pakistan's loss to India in the Asia Cup title alluded to a fact - sports or military, India humbled Pakistan rather convincingly.

India's devastating airstrikes at Pakistan's terror infrastructure and military installations in May had left that country's airspace defenceless in a very short time. The pounding eventually led a top Pakistani military officer to dial India and request for a ceasefire. Even airports were severely damaged and several terror camps were vanquished and terrorists and relatives were killed.

India refused to collect the Asia Cup from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the president of the Asian Cricket Council.

It was widely speculated that India would take this stand amid tensions between the two countries, particularly given Naqvi's dual role as a government minister in Pakistan and his provocative social media post during the tournament.

A few days back, Naqvi repeated Haris Rauf's controversial gestures from the India vs Pakistan Super 4 match in the Asia Cup 2025.

The PCB chief used a video of Cristiano Ronaldo and insinuated the fighter-jet falling gesture on the micro blogging site X.

Naqvi took to the platform on Wednesday evening during India's match against Bangladesh and added fuel to the fire.

India informed the officials that they were willing to receive the trophy from Emirates Cricket Board vice-chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, who was sharing the stage with Naqvi. However, Naqvi did not permit this to happen.

India and Pakistan's fixtures in the Asia Cup 2025 have been marked by off-field drama.

In their first encounter, Pakistan boycotted the post-match presentation ceremony after India refused to shake hands at the conclusion of the game. India's decision to skip the customary pre- and post-match routines reportedly irked the Pakistan team.

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board staged what was widely viewed as a symbolic "powerplay," accusing match referee Andy Pycroft of facilitating the handshake snub between Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha. The PCB even threatened to boycott their subsequent match against the UAE if Pycroft was not removed.

However, Pakistan were compelled to play after the ICC rejected their appeal against the match referee.

In the Super 4 clash, Pakistan were once again unable to match India, who were themselves not at their sharpest on the field. Pakistan posted a total of 170, but it proved insufficient as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill tore through the bowling attack with a 105-run opening stand.

Sunday Spl : Remembering Zubeen Garg 'Musical Torchbearer' --- With his unique flavour and diction he had revolutinised Music as a northeastern bright star of the 1990s

Poetry and Songs most often would begin Human Life as inseparable twins.

The singer is very much an important link.

Zubeen Garg's professional career in music began in 1992 with the release of his debut Assamese album, 'Anamika'.

This later for the modern Assamese music - became a milestone.  He was born on Nov 18, 1972 in Tura (Meghalaya) and hence he was only 20 when he had made up his mind where his heart was. Zubeen was two years younger than me.

Hence one can relate it well because the 1990s in north east of India and especially Assam was a different world.

Of course all death is a tragic end and for him that end came pretty fast. Assam and the rest of north east India are mourning since Sept 19th when he breathed last in Singapore. For lakhs of his admirers -especially the youths and the people of middle age in north east -- Zubeen's voice gave a sense of calm.

One of his Hindi numbers -- 'Jaaney kya chahe mann banwara ... from the film zzz  -- was big hit.

The starting words would mean -- I really don't know .... what my crazy heart desires.

This line itself reflected the trauma, agony and aspiration of the younger generation. And Zubeen's rendering of voice made it uniquely closer to the hearts of millions of young girls and boys.

It could be easily said that Zubeen had that instinct and element in him by which a song could be elevated beyond the confines of music and lyrics !

The numbers came from deep inside.

Youngsters across the globe seem to believe in the spirit of a statement --- well, while they have the ships; we have the waves. Zubeen's songs made that kind of appeal.

He was a Musical torchbearer and had a gifted ability to impart the right amount of emotion in a number.

"Mayabini" --- in Bengali sung by Zubeen Garg and Kalpana is from the album/movie Tumi (2007).

The song is written by Sumit Acharya, and the music is composed by Zubeen himself.

This song was first written by Zubeen Garg in 2001 under the Assamese title “Māyābinī Rātir Bukut” and was featured in film 'Dag'.

There's a very touchy para -

স্মৃতিগুলি কখনো…..

যদি মনে পড়ে যায়…..

পারবে কি ভুলতে……

তুমি কখনো আমায়……?

(Smritiguli kokhono ..... parbey ki bhuultey .... It deals with memories and "inability" of man/woman to forget the beloved )

This breezy number will remain fresh for a very long time.

Zubeen's music actually brought people together... the melodies would lift people's spirits and also gave voice to shared identity.

Finally at an emotional moment, one must say the love of Zubeen's voice and songs should be one of the things that will unite the north east of India and also the rest of the country.

Fictional Play - Part 2 :::::: "As my mirror, you must be knowing; I spent my whole life worrying what people will think" .... "But today, everyone is thinking about power ... power to abuse"

Few weeks back; I ran an imaginative and fictional work.

Link :

A Fictional Play !! :: "No Need of a Second Opinion" ::::::: (The Mirror tells me about my ego

Hence this is as 'response' or continuation of the Sept 3rd (2025) piece/play

Act 2

The stage is set.

The 'Historian' protagonist returns home after meeting the aging Revolutionary Leader

He was so much spell bound and impressed by the Revolutionary old warhorse that the Historian gets back before his large sized mirror and tries to reflect upon what all the leader had said ---

Historian starts speaking to the Mirror

".... You know .... As my mirror, you must be knowing; I spent my whole life worrying what people will think."

The Mirror does not respond.

Historian face turns a bit pale. Is the 'mirror' teasing him now !!

But he continues:

"No, I understand what you are thinking. I  am not in love with her ... I definitely liked her .... many years back. But today nothing is left.... I am almost a widower....My wife is lost in her life. That's her life.

But yes; maybe little bit I am living with her memories. The memories of my class mate .... who never became my wife".

Historian face brightens --

Probably -- the Mirror has understood him...- he thinks.

And then says --

"True; I may be a good one but not a great one".

****

The historian keeps speaking to the Mirror.

In this age. everyone is alone. Youth is especially the loneliest island -- the historian says.

His aversion to partnership and share and care are most obvious in the rejection of the concept of friendship as we understood once.

He thinks and he knows he is capable of winning alone or not winning at all.

He is a strange creature.

Disappointing interjections like these.....

seem to have been part of what he has turned out to be. An eternal skeptical. The whole negativity. Something he would have hated a few decades back.

“I always gave an honest answer and sometimes it feels to me that the Westminster (my wife .. or my colleagues) etc could not deal with those answers.

They might be expecting some falsehood ... some colour ... some spice

Coffin is a coffin.... coffin of earth or one very costly what difference can it make

“Take me in, oh tender Mirror .... you are being very harsh

The world has changed a lot. This new world leadership views unity not as something cultivated through respectful dialogue but something enforced through control.

Diverse views and perspectives; no longer matter much.

It's a world of ,,,, My way or take the highway   What bothers more is how much 'power' you have ...

the power to abuse ...

it may be to help inlaws and relatives.

It is hardly to help the needy and pls forget the poor.

A society or an association of intellectuals... our historians once brimming with energy, ideas and volunteers today appears a club of vegetable sellers, shopkeepers and traders

who is only thinking about road to profitability

Everyone has made the organisation a professionalised bureaucracy aimed at maintaining power rather than transforming society.

Hunger can make people do anything even kill someone ... thats how perhaps cannibalism came.

When hungry, brain shrinks

bp drops and hearts move slowly

One can stop thinking

This also  happens when you are mad about Love.

Modi's Inner Circle .... Of course we cannot leave Amit Shah and Ajit Doval :::: Whom BBC calls 'a feared strategist' ? .... Who lived under cover in China and Myanmar ??

In December 2023, a few months before the parliamentary elections; I had tried to put up the argument that if Narendra Modi did not exist, the country would have to invent him.

The Sickular world would have tried "re-inventing" him. Well, that is --- many years after the 'train compartment' burnt at Godhra !

The analogy is not mine original as decades back an ardent observer of Chinese developments had written that: “If China did not exist, someone will have to invent her”.

Narendra Moi just had his birthday on Sept 17th and people still make all sorts of comments on his life and political career -- his metamorphosis ! There have been some requests and rather suggestions that I should try to write something on his 'inner circle'. With Modi he is the boss - that is Numero Uno.

His team does not interact with media persons much and generally it is given to understand that as a boss, Namo gives his ministers and officers "a clearly defined role" and expects 100 per cent performance and results if not more.

Modi's inner circle definitely includes the likes of Late Arun Jaitley and present Home Minister Amit Shah.

In 2024, a western news daily wrote -- “No 1 is Modi, and because he is Modi, he has to be all the numbers from one to 10 .....

Then 11 to 30 is Amit Shah, and then there are a bunch of people who are told what to do".

His team of 'crisis managers' have changed drastically and new ones have replaced the earlier faces. But not much is known why some of them had fallen from grace or there is something else.

One such character is Suresh Prabhu. Originally, a Shiv Sainik; Modi made him join BJP to make him a Minister. But in 2024 -- he missed the cabinet berth and since then he has not been heard much or even no heart at all.

PM Modi also has immense trust in Ajit Doval, - the NSA and Namo's 'eyes and ears for strategic and foreign policy matters'. Born on Jan 20, 1945; Doval is already 80.

There is large scale speculation on whether a new NSA will be appointed soon.

If you type 'Ajit Doval' in a search engine -- Google shoots back - "People also ask

How powerful is Ajit Doval?"

And the answer is also available -- "He is widely considered to be one of Modi's most powerful and trusted advisors, with major influence over India's national security and foreign affairs."

Of course it goes without stating that Doval has been 'admired as well as criticised' for his nationalist/hawkish views, known as the “Doval Doctrine”, especially on Kashmir.

He did play a key role in abrogating Article 370. In 2014, it is said it was Doval who mooted the idea to Modi to invite all SAARC nation heads or heads of Govts including the then Pak PM Nawaz Sharif.

Doval with Rajiv Gandhi

In 2020, 'The Guardian' newspaper published an article under the headline -

'The power behind the thrones: 10 political movers and shakers who will shape 2020'

Ajit Doval figured in that.

The article ran : "Doval has become a cult figure in some quarters thanks to his background in intelligence-gathering, counter-terrorism and counter-espionage, including in Kashmir, Punjab and north-east India.

According to some accounts, he lived under cover in China, Myanmar and Pakistan. When he feared identification as a Hindu due to his pierced ears, he had surgery to maintain his disguise, or so the story goes."

We may in fact write a separate piece on Amit Shah - his politics and his handling of the Home portfolio.

But the transition story of this main is also unprecdented.

In 2012 a national newsmagazine ran a cover story on him under the title “Why is this man still free?”

This was in reference to a controversial case in Gujarat. But today he is undoubtedly the second most powerful man in India. About his bond with PM Modi - the usual joke in the corridors of power is --- "it is rare for a Neta to trust another beyond a point.... But in the case of Modi-Amit Shah duo -- it is said they are the real 'yeh dosti hum nahi todenge' type.

My senior colleague R C Rajamani once said - "Perhaps Modi trusts Amit Shah more than himself and vice versa".

We may also say in 2025, Amit Shah is 'reaping' the rewards of what he had sown. Certainly, Shah has come up the ladder through hard work and great efficiency.

In electoral management - none can beat him.

And under J P Nadda -- it is Shah who runs not only the Home Ministry; he also runs the party.

BBC has called him 'a feared strategist'. And lately more often he replies on behalf of the Prime Minister in Parliament.

Blogger

We need to talk about Nripendra Mishra. In 2014 - he was made the Principal Secretary to the PM -- the most powerful bureaucrat in the Govt.

A 1967 batch retired IAS from UP cadre, Nripendra Misra has been the 'key man' to the construction of Ram Temple.

He is of course the chairman of high-powered temple committee. But signficantly enough, Mishra had advised the then chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav against tough measures (and opening fire) in dealing with kar sevaks at the disputed Ayodhya site in 1990.

He was then principal secretary to Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

After Arun Jaitley's death Modi wrote on Twitter --

Jaitley “was a political giant, towering intellectual and legal luminary. He was an articulate leader who made a lasting contribution to India".

Arun Jaitley was the only Minister between 2014 and 2019 who could speak on all matters.

Jaitley was Modi's 'eyes and ears in Delhi' when he was Gujarat's chief minister.

Jaitley will be also remembered for carrying out some of Modi’s more controversial economic initiatives, including changes to tax (GST) and overnight demonetisation – which took 86% of cash out of circulation.

In February 2024, as FM, Jaitley announced a budget with a string of populist giveaways,

"India has undertaken more than 600 major development projects in 78 countries" -- Jaishankar tells UNGA ::: Also laments ... "Central to the erosion of UN’s credibility has been resistance to reform"

Candid talk by Dr S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister at the UN

--

"An objective report card will show that the UN is in a state of crisis. When peace is under threat from conflicts, when development is derailed by lack of resources, when human rights are violated by terrorism, the UN remains gridlocked.

As its ability to forge common ground diminishes, belief in multilateralism also recedes.

Central to the erosion of UN’s credibility has been resistance to reform. Most members strongly desire change...." - he said.

The Minister also said the process is being made an obstacle to the outcome.

It is imperative that we see through this cynicism and purposefully address the reform agenda. The historical injustice done to Africa should be redressed.

Both permanent and non-permanent membership of the Council must be expanded.

A reformed Council must be truly representative. And India stands ready to assume greater responsibilities, the Minister said.

"Today, the predicament of the Global South is especially acute. Bharat, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, believes that it has both a duty to contribute and an obligation to motivate. That is why we have undertaken more than 600 major development projects in 78 countries, as well as innumerable community-based initiatives.

They range from large infrastructure to small livelihoods, from capacity building to people’s welfare, from concrete assets to education and training.

Turbulent times require that we step forward during moments of crisis. India has been forthcoming in that regard, especially in its immediate vicinity.

Whether it is finance, food, fertilizer or fuel, we have responded to the urgent requirements of our neighbours, he maintained.

Each one of us has the opportunity of contributing to peace and prosperity. In the case of conflicts, especially Ukraine and Gaza, even those not directly involved have felt its impact. Nations who can engage all sides must step-up in the search for solutions. India calls for an end to hostilities and will support any initiative that will help restore peace.

The last decade in Bharat has also seen transformative changes due to the vision of Prime Minister Modi. Our digital public infrastructure has redefined governance and enabled delivery of public services on an unprecedented scale. Our start-up eco system, innovation culture and micro-finance are changing the face of society. Our rapidly growing infrastructure facilitates both ease of doing business and ease of living for citizens. India remains committed to sharing its experiences and tools with others on their journey of development.

Artificial Intelligence as a horizontal and cross-cutting technology has a particular promise for development. India’s approach is to harness it responsibly for human welfare. Inclusion and impact will be the watch words for the Summit that India will host in 2026.

Bharat approaches the contemporary world, guided by three key concepts:

One, Atmanirbharta or self-reliance.

That means developing our own capabilities, building our own strengths and nurturing our own talent. We see its results already, be it in manufacturing, in space programmes, in pharma production or in digital applications. Make, innovate and design in India also benefit the world.

Two, Atmaraksha or securing oneself.

We remain determined to protect our people and secure their interests, at home and abroad.

That means zero-tolerance for terrorism, robust defence of our borders, forging partnerships beyond and assisting our community abroad.

And three, Atmavishwas or self-confidence.

As the most populous nation, as a civilizational state, as a rapidly growing major economy, we are confident about who we are, and what we will be.

Bharat will always maintain its freedom of choice. And will always be a voice of the Global South, the Minister said.
