Dear Cock,
I am the 'lotus'. Politically, I am symbol of a political party. But that's the narrow view.
Basically, as a creation of mother nature, I represent purity, spiritual awakening, and resilience.
This is because as a flower, I grow up "clean" through muddy water. We both know, politics is muddy. But politics is also about power and hence both of us are together.
Come circa 2028, we will complete 10 years of association in the spirit of think, thick and thin. Otherwise, we have been cooperating with each other and at times attacking each other like all opportunist political players.
But now that we have completed more than 8 years of close partnership, we may do some stocktaking.
Despite potentials, meaning enough of muddy waters (both physically and metaphysically) - I could not grow much in Nagaland. Thanks to 'machinations' and Global Conspiracy. The 'globe' has been thrown into the dustbin of history and the Gen Z of 2046 and around may not remember the 'political party' Globe was associated with.
As Lotus and creation of nature; I am concerned whether we both will also be remembered by then. If at all, some oldies remember us - will they have 'fond' memories or they shall curse us.
Worse, they may curse the Lotus-Cock partnership.
Lately your leader and technically the 'leader' of my political party at the provincial level - said a Committee has been formed to work for a lasting peace period in Nagaland. Though, we share power - my party says it is not aware of any such panel. Even those in Delhi are ignorant.
But your leader is a seasoned leader. His team and technically 'our team' will be soon busy with Festivals now. The Hornbill Fest is not far off and the protagonists are already in action. As partners in power, we both are proud about the same.
But what is important is should we continue to hoodwink the people.
Should the 'leadership' in politics and the Bolero-riding society (Fortuners have come) constantly harp on non-issues and and ignore the realities of everyday life?
Peace and prosperity is a phrase - tomorrow's children may simply hate.
I am afraid; then they are likely to sooner or later cause a groundswell of public anger. This may unravel in some forms someday.
At the outset, our heartiest compliments to your leader that such a committee has been constituted.
The speeches of big leaders are cleared by the cabinet; so may be my party leaders also know the detail about the formation of such a panel.
But as a symbol I am not aware of.
But the committee itself if is an achievement, I should not hesitate to congratulate about such a major decision.
But common people in Nagaland and also some parts of the north east region tell me that the Naga Political Issue is not merely a matter of government administration or political parties—it is an issue that has affected generations of the people.
The Lotus-Cock partnership has repeatedly stated that we all are committed to facilitating an early, honourable, acceptable and inclusive political solution.
Therefore, it will be in fitness of things to know who is the committee chairman (by name) and who all others - officials and experts - are in the said panel.
- Who are all the members of the newly constituted Committee?
- What is the exact mandate and terms of reference of the Committee?
- When was the Committee formally constituted by the Government of India, and under which notification/order? (preferably the date and the signatory of the notification)
May we also be enlightened -
* What specific role will the Nagaland Government and the Political Affairs Committee play in the functioning of this new committee ?
* Who will represent the Government of Nagaland in discussions with the Committee or during its consultations?
If we do not have these details and unable to share these with common people; our critics may soon call us "Fiction talkers" of the town.
This is just being diplomatic and little decent and also being economical with truth.
May the Lotus-Cock partnership grow from strength to strength.
