Mamata's Freebies may fetch votes .... but State Economy would be bleeding !!! :::: 'Hell with State Economy --- 'Aapa' has another quality being a Mother of Freebies

Even if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal; the burden the Mamata Banerjee Govt will leave behind will need resorting to tough and old theories of life and economy.

The going would be tough and hence the new Govt may have to 'more tough' to get going.

West Bengal’s public debt, already hovering at Rs 7.35 lakh crore (35.7% of GSDP as per RBI’s latest 2025-26 estimates), leaves a worrisome scene.

The state borrowed Rs 1.2 lakh crore last fiscal year alone, with interest payments eating 20 per cent of revenue receipts.

Three-pointers:

* The TMC leadership is scared about one thing. It does not want Governance and other issues like RG Kar rape and woman-safety become dominant election issues.

** Therefore the BJP's plans include attack Mamata Banerjee for the harm she had done to the state in the last 15 years.

*** The Trinamool Congress instead is keen to project the elections as a referendum on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the alleged attempts by Team Modi to impose and also the so-called step-motherly attitude of the Centre. Hence, TMC says SIR is a mechanism to disenfranchise Bengalis.

'Aapa' has another quality being a Mother of Freebies -- Hell with State Economy

And if the Mamata Govt comes back -- her over ambitious electoral zeal has already created huge economic burder for a fund-crunched state. But she remains unfazed.

Let us examine recently touted Yuva Sathi. On papers there is already a scheme for unemployed youths mooted in 2016; but now it is gathering dust in Nabanno.

'Yuva Sathi' is a straight copy-paste from Left's governance model.

Education may make you unemployed; join politics - and take a special dole. Communists popularly called it Bekar Bhata (unemployment allowance).

It was an insult to self pride but Bengali's gossip loving and work shirking culture had embraced that.

So technically the communism of Jyoti Basu era still continues in West Bengal.

And Mamata Banerjee is most obedient student of that sick Marxism school.

Syndicate to glorifying poverty and joblessness - Mamata is more communist

..... than most communists.

Yuva Sathi -- for political optics - gave TMC a list of 81 lakh applicants. Initial calculation was 30 lakh takers.

The scheme doubled as a grassroots mobilization tool for TMC in the election year.

So-called Registration camps buzzed with party workers assisting applicants, distributing forms and setting up helpdesks.

'Enthu for freebies is always extra ordinary'.

Mrinal Das, a TMC booth worker in Jadavpur said : “Even after online registrations ... people were still showing enthusiasm. The refrain being if Mamata Banerjee is giving some cash; why not take it? We pay taxes".

The Sickular narrative built in most Bengali newspapers (whose proprietorship and Edit-rooms control lies with TMC chief ) --- was that it was an 'engagement' with Yuva shakti across classes.

Hence in Howrah; a 24-year-old Shampa Das, a Master’s in English, also queued up with her mark sheets.

At Kharda, Saju Mallick (B Pharm.) described it as a first step to "financial independence".

Sitai region : Not Far from Bangladesh border

The distortion-team did not stop at that.

TMC countered that criticism by claiming -- “We created 40-50 lakh jobs since 2011 and now Yuva Sathi bridges the gap further more". Ting tong.  arrive,”

CPI(M) leader Mohd. Salim blasted TMC : "It’s a vote-buying stunt at the cost of self pride of Bengali youths and also draining the state’s coffers".

There are a few other examples to be taken note of.

The Union government withheld Rs 7,000 crore GST compensation last year, citing irregularities.

Lakshmir Bhandar ballooned from Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 18,000 crore annually, funded via borrowings.

Yuva Sathi will also end into a similar trouble area.

Rural Bengal :::: Can Communists try to make a comeback ?

Now, BJP Narratives :

Basically - three-four pillars

-- Corruption that stalled West Bengal’s progress vis-a-vis other Indian states  (despite human resource, talent, land and coastal locations)

-- Infiltration and Population imbalance

- Misgovernance, politicization of administration

The BJP has focused on Matuas, Rajbanshis, Gorkhalis and tribals.

Trying hard to dislodge TMC’s traditional base - Bhadralok - who were with Left and shifted to TMC only in 2011 partly and 'overwhelmingly' later.

The BJP also eyeing heavy polarization among Hindus.

In 2026 most movie stars have been kept at a distance by both the parties, except for a few exceptions. The Trinamool has dropped sitting MLAs like the actor Kanchan Mallick for “non-performance”, while those like Raj Chakraborty and Arundhati Maitra have been retained.

The BJP too has fielded only those from the film and television world who have spent years with the party.
