The Committee on Tribal Unity in Manipur has announced that it will launch economic blockade with effect from midnight of November 15 along the Notional Highway-2 and NH-37.
The CoTU said that the 'indifferent attitude' of the concerned authority in the violence-hit state in dispensing law and order in Kuki-Zo inhabited areas has forced it to take such a decision.
It said CoTU has been agitating for a meaningful resolution on different aspects.
“To our dismay our demands have been consistently ignored,” a statement said.
The Committee has also stated that the “unconditional release of the two innocent Kuki-Zo is indispensable on grounds of illegal detention and impartial execution of law and order in a democratic set-up.”
Accusing the State government on the total failure of the constitutional machinery propagated by fascist and lunatic power-mongers of the state, CoTU, says it stands resolute in its endeavour for justice and any form of systematic subjugation will be dealt firmly by the Kuki-Zo people.
