Election time also brings out the baser instincts! The Tu-Tu-Mein-Mein verbal dual between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader and mascot Rahul Gandhi reached its crescendo or the low ebb once again !!
"Arey Murkho ke Sardar....(Arey, King of Fools or a great leader of Idiots)" ----
PM Modi's wordings have gone viral and not without good reasons.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is already among headlines over Mahadev App scam, sought to join the issue with Modi and said, "...the Prime Minister has developed a superiority complex. He is boasting about his position and power and hence has started using such statements against political opponents".
'प्रधानमंत्री का अहंकार इतना बढ़ गया है कि अब वह जनता के बीच गाली दे रहे हैं.' -- said Baghel.
The controversial episode relates to remarks made by Rahul Gandhi on Monday when he said in an election rally that his party wants to make India a manufacturing hub.
"You see behind your mobile phone's back, your shirt, your shoes -- you will find 'Made in China' written there. Have you seen behind the camera and shirts ‘made in Madhya Pradesh’ tags? This is what we want to do," he said.
Prime Minister Modi countered Rahul on Tuesday and said without taking name
- "Yesterday, a Congress's wise man was saying that the people of the country only have made in China mobile. Arre 'moorkhon ke sardar' (King of Stupid people) which world do you live in? Congress leaders are afflicted with the mental disease of ignoring India's achievements. I wonder what foreign glasses they have worn that they are not able to see in India".
Mr Modi claimed that India is now the second biggest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world.
"When the Congress was in power, India's manufacturing of mobile phones was under Rs 20,000 crore. Today, India's industry has grown to over Rs 3.5 lakh crore. India is also exporting mobile phones worth Rs 1 lakh crore," he said.
This is not for the first time that both Modi and Rahul Gandhi have attacked each other personally. In 2019, the Congress leader (Rahul) and the entire grand old party made a slogan 'Chowkidar Chor hae'. This was in reference to the Prime Minister -- because Modi had claimed as the head of the union/federal government in the centre, he is like a "guard" (Chowkidar) or custodian of country's governance elements especially leading a full-steam battle against corruption.
In 2019 during a parliamentary debate in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi himself said, "You(ruling BJP) think I am an Pappu (simpleton and naive)".
The fact of the matter is Rahul Gandhi would (in the past) often give lofty talks in public which which would be beyond the comprehension of common people. For example, once he told a gathering of Dalits to put in extra effort at "Jupiter's escape velocity of 60 km to come out of the caste shackles".
In 2017 on the eve of Gujarat assembly polls, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aier's remarks against Modi calling him "neech (backward and low level)" was effectively used by the BJP.
