NPF is part of the ruling dispensation in Imphal and also in Kohima :::: Power means honour; it also means RESPONSIBILITY

In an ideal and 'good world'; Neighbour does not hate neighbour. So take cosmopolitan Dimapur in Nagaland; people from different human stocks can live happily ever after. The story met mega hurdles in Manipur and the adverse fallout has touched circa 2026. In 2023 -- two different sets of people were involved.

Can anyone say .... I am with BJP in Nagaland and Manipur ... but I will speak about breaking Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh ?

In 2026 - while things have not improved; the problem has started raising hydra headed disease in other areas of the state.

It's challenging time for the Central government as well as the ruling party BJP. A new ministry was sworn in Manipur but cabinet meetings are going on without the ministers not knowing -- who's who ! Poor chief minister Y Khemchand - if he seeks "understanding" of his position -- he actually gets sympathies.

Manipur CM Khemchand along with state Deputy Chief Ministers Ms Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Feb 23rd in Delhi.  It was a crucial meeting certainly.

It is expected that the chief minister briefed the Prime Minister on the steps taken up by the new state government to bring peace.

It's tough situation for any government in Manipur no doubt.

Deputy chief minister Losii Dikho is a fortunate and lucky entrant to the cabinet. His friends and party colleagues in Kohima and the 'NPF high command' are understandably solidly behind him.

That way, the NPF is part of the ruling dispensation in Imphal and also in Kohima.

Power means honour; it also means RESPONSIBILITY. Hence every key functionary and office bearers are expected to shoulder their responsibilities with dignity, firmness and self respect.

At a gathering of important party leaders at Dimapur; Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries and Commerce, pointed out that safety, security, illegal taxation and human resource challenges often discourage investors from investing in Nagaland.

She expressed optimism that the department’s initiative ‘Made in Nagaland’ would promote Naga handicraft, handloom and food processing.

She also said that the Nagaland government does not have “free money” but has resources for genuine projects, she urged Nagas to take business seriously. (as reported in Eastern Mirror, certainly a responsible newspaper)

In fact her statements are thought provoking, The phrase 'free money' is interesting.

We called its Bolero culture for long.

Her admission about 'illegal taxation' need not be discussed much at this juncture. If she and her 58 other MLA colleagues including powerful deputy CMs and simple man NPF chief and the state chief minister appreciate this issue - the people have heaved a sigh of relief .... I suppose.

But there are some leaders -- who have flagged off other critical issues. Linking the Election Commission's "routine statement" about the NDPP's merger with NPF with the party's pledge of 'beyond Nagaland' is paradoxical and mixed with some confusion.

It also appears jocularly.

In Indian democracy, a Naga can work and settle down in Pune and a Bengali can run a shop in Mon town.

The NPP-led by Conrad Sangma is "beyond Meghalaya" as Neiphiu Rio has NPP colleagues in the state assembly. The AIMIM is 'beyond Hyderabad' because it keeps contesting in states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The moot point is linking everything to Naga integration is unjustified. More so because it is an emotive issue.

The dynamic Secretary Generals need to come out of the legacies of old Naga club building. Such posts are also 'responsible' positions. But who can bell the cat ?

We mean ... who can control the Secretary General when the party boss and the state chief minister during a recent meeting spoke about Naga integration.

The Chief Minister underlined the need to work towards a pan-Naga platform to provide a collective voice. If he talks on this issue; he has the obligation to make it clear that 'collective Naga voice' as a cultural mission may be easily acceptable.

Is NPF trying to reposition itself with the politics of Rahul Gandhi where taking out shirts is a virtue ?  The NPF's regional pride has died its natural death in Oct 2025.  Formerly led by Chingwang Konyak; the NDPP was an outfit of party hoppers and sheer opportunists.

Most are ex-Congressmen and can easily start visiting AICC headquarters if the season changes. But emotive issues are risk-prone and hence the timing is also important.

In these columns an argument was attempted to suggest that the hapless Cock has been caged.

If some people want to be 'more regional' than real/genuine regionalist ... one may extend good luck.

The polity often stands unchanged. Nagaland politics has not changed an inch since October 2025 ... NDPP-NPF merger or the Govt of India's supposed goof up when Thuingaleng Muivah was allowed a visit to Somdal without a proper home work.

The Naga integration is an NSCN-IM agenda certainly; and it is understood.

But why the 'nationalist' BJP is silent when the ally NPF is throwing open challenge to the central government ?

The centre has made repeated assertion that breaking three other states - that is - Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam - is never part of any official agenda. The Naga underground groups may have their demands or talking points; but a so-called NDA constituent behaving so irresponsibly is uncalled for.

The state of Manipur has tasted the dirty results of dirty ethnic-based politics. Be more responsible Sirs. And who knows .. the BJP has already started revisiting its electoral alliance strategies for 2028.
