On Arvind Kejriwal's acquittal in excise policy case, Congress leader Pawan Khera says, "Not surprising at all; most predictable...This is what the BJP does before every election.
If it suits them to weaken the congress, they will strengthen Congress' rivals. That is what they did in the past as well.
Yesterday, they gave sanction for prosecution against P Chidambaram ji, to weaken Congress in Tamil Nadu...".
He also tweeted: "भाजपा कोई राजनीतिक दल नहीं है। वह एक इच्छाधारी नाग है जिसके पास रूप बदलने की शक्ति है।
उसका एक ही जुनूनी लक्ष्य है: कांग्रेस को हराना और कांग्रेस मुक्त भारत बनाना। इस लक्ष्य के लिए वह किसी भी स्तर तक गिर सकती है।" (BJP is not a political party. It is like an Ichhadhari snake (who can take different shapes in different times)... It has only one mission. Congress Mukt Bharat.

Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal broke down in tears on Friday after a Delhi court discharged him and others.
But any notion that this would draw sympathy — even unity — across the Opposition spectrum was quickly lost to memes and barbs.
Congress leader Gurdeep Singh Sappal asked if Kejriwal's tears carried "a bit of remorse too” for having made accusations against the party over the years, particularly at the time of launching the AAP in 2011-12.
"False accusations, fake messiah, hollow Lokpal — these were all part of the charade he orchestrated," Sappal wrote on X. He said Kejriwal's early political career was built by targeting former PM Manmohan Singh, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and the late Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera was even more pointed, suggesting that the CBI, controlled by the BJP-led Centre, may have weakened its case on purpose. "This is the BJP playbook: vendetta as governance and agencies as campaign tools," Khera wrote on X.
"Proceedings against their 'convenient allies' in the AAP and others will quietly vanish in light of the Gujarat and Punjab elections," Khera said.
In Punjab, the AAP is in power and hence the Congress was seen as an alternative against the incumbent party in office. Analysts feel this verdict from the court will now boost AAP's electoral prospects.
In Punjab, elections are due early next year along with UP, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur. Elections are also due in Gujarat in December 2027.
In 2022 polls; BJP polled 52.50% votes picking up a brute majority with 156 seats in the 182-member assembly. The Congress could win only 17 seats with 27.28 % votes.
But the nascent AAP with 12.92 % votes had won five seats. More importantly, the AAP had damaged Congress prospects in many seats.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate sought to lampoon Kejriwal over his getting emotional. In a meme on X showing the AAP supremo crying — with added sound effects — Shrinate called Rahul Gandhi “our leader, a lion” purportedly for facing “32 cases” as against Kejriwal's “one case”.
For his part, Kejriwal did not let the Congress remarks pass, while he also accused the BJP led by PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah of hatching a conspiracy against him.
"I want to ask the Congress — Kejriwal went to jail; did Robert Vadra go to jail? (AAP leader) Sanjay Singh went to jail. Did Rahul Gandhi go to jail?... What is Congress saying? Does it have no shame?" he said at a press conference.
Kejriwal's India Against Corruption campaign along with Anna Hazare and Kiran Bedi had harmed Congress reputation the most in 2010-11. The AAP later came to power in Delhi taking away the Congress space ... as the grand old party was reduced to zero in the assembly.
The AAP also ousted the Congress in Punjab in 2022 and has harmed Congress prospects in many states including Goa and Gujarat.
However, prospects of any deal between BJP and Kejriwal is doubtful as top saffron party leaders consider Kejriwal an anarchist.
