NIA takes over Delhi's 10/11 Blast case ::::: First arrest started on Oct 30 ... yet explosion happened :::: Forensic Teams collect 42 exhibits ::: Network of 10 had five medicos including female Doctors

A former medical college lecturer from Lucknow, Dr Shaheen Shahid, is also accused of being involved in Delhi's 10/11 blast. She has been heading the Indian wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed's women's outfit.

She is among the several doctors arrested in a terror module case.

The radical group possessed ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, other high-grade explosives, and a detonator, which Dr Umar reportedly took with him in his car on the fateful day.

Most MBBS students at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad’s Dhauj did not have any real interaction with Dr Muzammil Ganai, a junior resident doctor working in the emergency wing of the institute.

Dr Ganai was arrested on October 30 after J&K Police linked him to “interstate and transnational terror module”.

A massive blast ripped through a Hyundai i20 near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station around 6:50 pm on Monday, killing 13 people.

The explosion occurred as the car halted at a red light, and agencies suspect it to be a planned terror attack, invoking the UAPA in the FIR.

Forensic teams have collected 42 exhibits, including car parts and gas cylinder fragments, to determine the nature of explosives used.

The NIA has formally taken over the probe as nationwide alerts remain in force.

Dr Mohammad Umar worked closely with two others, Adeel Rather and Muzammil Ganaia, both from Kashmir, to run a terror logistics network allegedly comprising 9-10 members. The team has at least 5/6 doctors.

The accused reportedly misused their medical credentials to procure raw materials and assemble explosives.

Umar allegedly went into hiding on November 9 after raids recovered 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and is suspected to be near Dhauj village, having cut off all digital communication.

Before disappearing, he was using five mobile phones, all switched off since October 30, and had stopped attending medical and university duties.

Dr Tajamul Ahmed Malik, originally from Kulgam in South Kashmir and currently working at SHMS Hospital in Srinagar, was taken into custody by police from Karan Nagar for questioning.

The authorities did not provide further details on the reason for his detention.

Following the Delhi blast, Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched anti-terror operations in Shopian, targeting overground workers (OGWs) and conducting searches at multiple residential locations.

The operations are focused on the homes of Jamaat-e-Islami activists, including Dr Hameed Fayaz of Nadigam and Mohammad Yousuf Falahie of Chitragam.

The raids follow the arrest of Maulvi Irfan, who is believed to have played a key role in radicalising the trio of doctors linked to the blast. During questioning, Irfan reportedly disclosed details of his connections in Shopian, prompting the ongoing searches.

Hours before the explosion in a car near the Red Fort in Delhi killed nine people on Monday (Nov 10, 2025) evening, the J&K Police said they had busted an “inter-state and transnational” terror module linked with terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH), and that they had arrested seven people.

Among the arrested was Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganai from Pulwama, who was picked up from Faridabad, where he worked at Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences & Research Centre.

Another doctor, Adeel Majeed Rather from Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, was arrested in Saharanpur.

According to police sources, the seven people arrested as part of the terror module bust had “no previous terror-related cases against them”. They are all believed to be between 22 and 30 years of age, sources said.

1. Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganai

Ganai was the first to be arrested in this case. From Koil in Pulwama, Ganai taught at the Al Falah Hospital in Faridabad. Police said they seized 358 kg of explosives from his rented home in Faridabad’s Dhauj village. Both Ganai and the primary blast suspect, Dr Umar Nabi, are residents of the same village. He also uses the alias Musaib.

2. Dr Adeel Rather

He graduated from Government Medical College, Srinagar, in 2018 after completing his MBBS and then received his MD in General Medicine in 2022.

He was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur following Ganai’s arrest and questioning. Rather worked as a senior resident at GMC Anantnag from October 2022 to October 2024.

3. Molvi Irfan Ahmad

A cleric, Ahmad is the imam of a masjid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.

4. Arif Nisar Dar

A resident of Nowgam in Srinagar, Dar is believed to have been in contact with Irfan Ahmad and Muzamil Ganai.

5. Yasir-ul-Ashraf

A resident of the same locality as Dar, Ashraf runs a business. He also goes by the name Sahil. Sources said that he works at his uncle’s shop in Nowgam.

6. Maqsood Ahmad Dar

He also comes from Nowgam and works as an accountant at a local iron and steel shop, police said. He also goes byShahid.

7. Zameer Ahmad Ahanger

A resident of Wakura in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, Ahanger is unemployed, police said. He is locally also known as Mutlasha.

Police alleged that the group used encrypted channels for “indoctrination, coordination, fund movement and logistics”. Police also said that funds were raised through professional and academic networks, under the guise of social/charitable causes.

Police also said they recovered 2,900 kg of IED-making material from different locations, including explosives, chemicals, reagents, inflammable material, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote control, timers, and metal sheets, during coordinated raids on the module.

Police suspect that Dr Umar Nabi Bhat was the leader of a terror module of doctors.

Bhat's family was taken away for questioning, while Ganai's family was shocked to learn of his involvement.

Since 2014, Al Falah University has been operated by Al Falah Charitable Trust. The current V-C is Dr Bhupinder Kaur Anand; she is also the principal of the medical college. Dr Muzammil Ganai, a junior resident doctor, was working in the emergency wing of the institute.

He was arrested on October 30 after J&K Police linked him to “interstate and transnational terror module”.
