No exemptions for citizens of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan ::: Modi Govt relaxes Protected Area Permit for 10 days for tourism extravaganza, Hornbill Festival in Nagaland

In order to help promote tourism in Nagaland in particular and north east in general, the Central government relaxed the enforcement of Protected Area Permit (PAP) for the Hornbill Festival beginning December 1 for 10 days.

"Who is against Tourism ... never this Modi Government. We want to ensure Act East Policy. Give us Peace and a guarantee to peace through Political Solutions. Many such positive and people friendly measures will be taken," says an informed source.

The enforcement of PAP will stand relaxed for the Hornbill festival from Dec 1 to Dec 10th.

Importantly, citizens of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan are not exempted from the PAP.

This year, Nagaland is hosting the 26th edition of the Hornbill Festival.

Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has recently written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate action on the clearance of Protected Area Permit (PAP) applications for international delegates.

In his letter, the Chief Minister highlighted that the Hornbill Festival—one of India’s most prominent cultural events—coincides with the Nagaland State Commemoration Day and attracts thousands of visitors from across India and abroad.

Calling the festival a crucial driver of the state’s economy, he noted its vital role in generating employment and livelihood opportunities.
