"If only civilians were killed in these attacks, I wonder what message this picture actually sends to all of you. This is the question that is worth asking. It's also odd that the funerals of civilians are carried out with the coffins being draped in Pakistani flags and state honours being accorded," said ...

"I have no information with regard to contacts between the two National Security Advisors..., " says Misri on Pakistan Foreign Minister's claim that the National Security Advisors of India and Pakistan have spoken to each other

State funerals for terrorists in Pakistan: India rejects 'civilians killed' charge

India on Thursday strongly rejected claims of civilian casualties in Tuesday's strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and condemned Islamabad for allegedly according state funerals to the terrorists killed in the operation.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, at a press briefing, holding up a photograph showing uniformed Pakistani Army and police personnel praying behind the coffins of the slain terrorists, questioned

what message this image conveys.

In one instance, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was seen leading the funeral prayers.

India on Thursday, May 8th,  strongly condemned Pakistan for allegedly holding "state funerals" for terrorists killed in India's strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The government sharply criticised Islamabad, suggesting that conferring "state funerals" on terrorists may have become a practice in Pakistan.

Strongly rejecting Pakistan's claim of civilian casualties, the Foreign Secretary stressed, "As far as we are concerned, the individuals eliminated at these facilities were terrorists.

Giving terrorists state funerals may be a practice in Pakistan, but it doesn’t seem to make much sense to us".

In view of the prevailing situation, all schools, colleges & educational institutions (private as well as Government) in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch shall remain closed tomorrow, on May 9 as well: Divisional Commissioner Jammu

The Indian armed forces destroyed terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a strike that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised as an operation of "unimaginable precision".

Codenamed Operation Sindoor, the strike, carried out on Wednesday, killed around 100 terrorists, two weeks after Pakistan-based militants killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

"Pakistan is trying to wash its hands from any and all involvement with terrorism. Pakistani information minister said there are no terrorists in Pakistan, and I think he was challenged in that TV programme that he was appearing on.

Pakistan's reputation as the epicentre of global terrorism is rooted in a number of instances where concrete evidence is available not just to India but governments and authorities around the world,"

said Vikram Misri, reiterating New Delhi’s accusations of Islamabad sponsoring cross-border terrorism.

Stressing that India’s action was in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which he described as the "original escalation," the Foreign Secretary added, "India's response is non-escalatory, precise, and considered".

"Our intention has not been to escalate matters and we are responding only to the original escalation, and only terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan has been hit."
