West Bengal Governor sounds furious after visit to riot-hit Murshidabad .... says its "Bizarre, barbaric" ::::::: "I will share my report with the Centre and the state Govt"

"My assessment has to be verified by me only. I had contradictory reports. Hence, I came (to Murshidabad). What I saw was bizarre. It was barbaric. Ugly instincts of degeneration human behaviour," the Governor said.

Governor CV Ananda Bose said that his visit to the violence-hit border district came after he got contradictory reports of what actually transpired on the ground.

"What happened is barbaric. This should never happen again.

People are in panic. We should re-establish normalcy there and bring people to confidence that there is someone to protect them, and also take all steps to see that such things are warded off in future.

Out of many demands, one prominent one was for a permanent BSF camp there."

The Governor, who has been at loggerheads with the Mamata Banerjee  government over a range of issues ever since he assumed the position, again attacked the Trinamool Congress, saying that the people have lost faith in the system.

"Violence used to happen during elections, but now it is becoming frequent. A section is trying to establish force on another. It is the worst form of jingoism. People have lost faith in the system," he said.

C V Ananda Bose has called the on-the-ground situation in Murshidabad bizarre and barbaric after his visit to the riot-hit district on Saturday.

The Governor met the family members of the father-duo who were killed by a mob during the violence that erupted over the Waqf law earlier this month.

Bose assured the family of all the support and said he would take up the matter with the Centre.

Three people died in the violence that rocked several areas in Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas during protests over the Waqf law, which regulates Waqf properties donated by Muslims.

Several houses of Hindus were ransacked in the violence, forcing them to take shelter in relief camps in neighbouring Malda.

The Governor went on to say that the locals have put forth their demands to ensure their safety and security.

"I will share my report with the Centre and the state government. They can't be shared in the public domain at the moment," Bose added.

On the second day of his visit to violence-hit areas on Saturday, the Governor went to Murshidabad's Samsherganj, Dhulian, Suti and Jangipur. During his visit, several locals affected due to the violence held banners demanding a permanent BSF camp in the area.
