US will support India as it hunts down Pahalgam attackers: Tulsi Gabbard ::::: Remarks came hours after US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce refused to entertain a Pakistani journalist's query on Pahalgam attack

Three days after terrorists killed 26 people in J&K's Pahalgam, US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, on Friday condemned the Islamist terror attack and said that the US will support India as it hunts down the perpetrators.

US State Department spokesperson has condemned the attack

President Donald Trump wrote in a social media message --

"Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!"

Notably, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will identify, trace and punish every terrorist and their backers who killed 26 innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.

The US Director of National Intelligence tweeted, "We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack, targeting and killing 26 Hindus in Pahalgam.

My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, PM @narendramodi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack."

Notably, there is another small twist in the tale.

Ms Tulsi's assertive remarks came hours after US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce refused to entertain a Pakistani journalist asking him about the Pahalgam terror attack and the Kashmir issue.

Asked by a Pakistani journalist if Trump was still willing to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir -- like he had claimed during his first term in office, US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce responded:

"I'm not going to be remarking on it. I will say nothing more on that situation. The President and the Secretary have said things, as has the Deputy Secretary."

"President Trump and Secretary Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India, strongly condemns all acts of terrorism.

We pray for the lives of those lost and pray for the recovery of the injured and call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice," Tammy Bruce added, clarifying the US's stance on the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

It may be pointed out that in 2019, President Trump (in his first stint) had first offered to mediate between the two nations during the then Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's state visit to the US. But the fact of the matter is -- it was just a way of saying things.

“If both Pakistan, let’s say, and India wanted me to do that, I am ready, willing, and able. It’s a complex issue," Trump had said in 2019.

India's Ministry of External Affairs took to X and stated - that "no such request" had been made from India's end.

The same was reiterated by Minister Dr S Jaishankar on the floor of parliament,

Dr Jaishankar had said that India wouldn't be accepting any third-party mediation when it came to bilateral issues with Pakistan.
