Agencies may try to dig out a China angle ::: NSCN-IM ideologue Raising avoided reference to third party international intervention

Rh Raising avoided reference to third party international intervention .... why ??

New Delhi

Good things like bad things or negative aspects are often unpredictable. They are like unguided missiles and may surface unexpectedly.

Thuingaleng Muivah made an unexpected statement about reviving violence on Nov 7. A section of experts in Delhi say that was 'unlike Muivah'.

The refrain being Muivah has handled tougher challenges earlier.

He was arrested in Bangkok for traveling on a Pakistani passport in 2000.

But then too,, he did not slam Govt of India. He did not lose cool. Thus, senior journalists and ex military men say that Muivah's statement has actually harmed Muivah's  reputation as a tough but suave negotiator.

Muivah : Younger Days - Suave Diplomat

Left to them; a few of them in Delhi are now pushing a line that even in the NSCN-IM camp there may be a few who would say -- going back to violence and arson days will not help anything.

Agencies may try to dig out a China angle.

This comes in reference to a statement from the militant group"s 'silent scorer" and a former spokesman - Rh. Raising.

There in he said --- the FA was one of the options where India and Nagas could meet.

"As a former acquaintance I know Raising also as practical, sensible and clever leader..... So his words are important,' said a former military officer who served in a top position in Nagaland.

He also suggested -- "Rejection of Neiphiu Rio's request for new Interlocutor has given right missive to NSCN-IM camp also.

Raising smartly avoided any reference to the issue of third party international intervention".

It is implied that while it may not be a case of climb down; it is certainly an attempt to redraw geo-political strategy.

Even earlier; NSCN-IM knew that Flag and Constitution demands would not be entertained. Notably, NNPG leader N Kitovi also has blasted the manner demands for replacing the Interlocutor was made.

A delegation of Naga CSOs including NPMHR, Global Naga Forum and Naga Mothers' Association are reportedly worried about the chances of reviving of violence

Many treat Muivah's statement of Nov 7th as undiplomatic. A few non political leaders reportedly sought an appointment and met Deputy Ato Kilonser ( Second in command in political space) V S Atem and others on Nov 18/19  and strongly insisted against abrogating Ceasefire.

A retired Lieutenant General said - "Every house has problems. Brothers do love each other but they also fight on issues of career choice etc".

Having said so the ex official claimed that Muivah's statement probably came due to a move from China lobby in the NSCN-IM.

Some leaders are reportedly camping in China for last several months.

The cold war must have just begun.

Raising and some others in that organisation may understand the gravity of the 'damage done' through the undiplomatic statement by Muivah apparently issued under Muivah’s signature after some flip flop and "dictation" by China-based leaders.

A veteran journalist who interacted with Naga leaders in the past have said that in fact; the Centre should conduct a intra departmental probe on whether hardliner Vs soft-liner debate has hit northeast India"s most potent group of 1990s.

One analyst says given various factors and the fact that Atem is already a deputy Ato Kilonser; it was impossible for anyone to retract Muivah’s statement.

Hence; those in the know of things say _ Raising’s apparent and smart toning down statement was the only option.

Moreover; the good old maxim -- Time is running out - applies to many in the NSCN-IM.

Some of them are rebels but tired of wars. Others are young and ambitious. So there could be multiple manner of looking at things.

If these arguments hold water -- may be the younger lots are in hurry and would like top level assignment.

This is also slowly emerging as a case that Delay in finalising a peace pact has left many stakeholders aggrieved.
