PM Modi to inaugurate multiple development projects in Gujarat on Oct 31


The Kamalam Park, dedicated to dragon fruit cultivation, will feature a state-of-the-art digital orientation center designed to educate visitors and farmers alike about the benefits and techniques of dragon fruit cultivation.






On October 31, the Prime Minister will pay tribute to Sardar Patel and participate in the 'National Unity Day' celebration at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district to be organised on the birth anniversary of India's first Home Minister and affectionately called Loh-purush. 


At Ekta Nagar, PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate 'Kamalam Park', a nursery for dragon fruit, which is also known as 'Kamalam', on the left bank of the Narmada river.

Modi is set to embark on a visit to Narmada district in Gujarat on October 31, where he will pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary, and will also inaugurate and launch a series of significant development initiatives.

Modi’s itinerary also includes the foundation stone laying ceremony for a 50-bed sub-district hospital and a trauma centre. Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited has allocated 6,000 sq m of land for the establishment of these crucial healthcare facilities, officials informed on Sunday.


The unveiling of various projects falls under the purview of the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority. Notable among these is the introduction of 30 electric buses and the initiation of a public bike-sharing program, aimed at enhancing sustainable transportation options. Additionally, piped natural gas connections for households, facilitated by Gujarat Gas, are set to be inaugurated, contributing to clean energy access.


To cater to the needs of tourists exploring the Statue of Unity complex, golf carts will be introduced, further improving transportation within the area. A commendable green initiative, involving the installation of four MW solar panels, is also on the agenda, aligning with India’s commitment to renewable energy.


He will inaugurate the Ekta Nagar Skill Development Center, a vocational training facility tailored for women seeking to enhance their employability and livelihood prospects.


Moreover, the Prime Minister will deliver an address at the fifth edition of ‘Aarambh,’ an annual conclave organised for officer trainees of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. The event will be marked by the foundation stone laying ceremony for a visitor’s centre, encompassing a reception hub for tourists, retail outlets, and food courts, among other amenities. This project is estimated to cost around Rs 100 crore.


The inauguration of Sahakar Bhavan, belonging to the Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Limited and valued at Rs 81 crore, also is on cards and it's a significant milestone in enhancing the region’s financial infrastructure.  









Kalamassery blast: 

Police confirms Kochi man planted IED


The Kerala Police has confirmed that Kochi native Dominic Martin planted the bombs which went off at Zamra Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kalamassery on Sunday morning, killing one woman and injuring several others.


Police found visuals of the remote control used to detonate the IED on Dominic’s phone. Hours after the explosions,bMartin surrendered himself before the Kodakara police station in Thrissur district and claimed responsibility for the bomb blast


Prior to his surrender, Martin made a Facebook video where he claimed responsibility for the blast, saying he was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was not happy with the sect’s activities.


In the video, Dominic said that despite multiple requests to the Christian denomination to change its ways which promote hatred, they refused to do so. Hence, he decided to plant bombs at the convention centre.


One person was killed and six others were critically wounded, while over 50 persons including women and children were left injured in the bomb explosion that took place at the convention centre in Kalamassery near Kochi during a prayer meeting of Jehovah Witnesses on Sunday morning.


The Kerala police chief Dr Shaik Darvesh Saheb has confirmed that an IED (improvised explosive device) was used in the explosion that took place in Kalamassery.  



Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructs the National Investigation Agency and the National Security Guard to initiate an inquiry into the blast.   



These two Central agencies specialise in anti-terror investigation and operations respectively. The Home Minister instructed the NIA and NSG chiefs to dispatch specialised teams to the scene carry out an investigation into the incident.

Amit Shah had a telephonic conversation with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan following the incident.



The incident took place at Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kalamassery in Ernakulam district, where a bomb exploded during a prayer meeting attended by Jehovah's Witness believers.
