Fun, frolic and film world: 'The Kashmir Files' wins Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration

Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files' won Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration

At the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held on Tuesday, a moment between filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Karan Johar caught the internet's attention. While Johar was on stage to receive the Special Jury Award for his film 'Shershaah', Agnihotri seemed to roll his eyes and look away.

DID VIVEK AGNIHOTRI ROLL HIS EYES AT KARAN JOHAR?

In a video that is doing rounds on the internet, it can be seen that Vivek Agnihotri was seemingly rolling his eyes at Karan Johar while the latter received the Special Jury Award for 'Shershaah'.

While Karan made his way, Vivek diverted his gaze from the stage and seemingly rolled his eyes in disapproval. This video has since garnered significant attention on the internet, says a media report.

It is widely known that Vivek Agnihotri has previously criticised Johar's approach to filmmaking, and has accused him and actor Shah Rukh Khan of 'damaging India's cultural fabric'.

Saffron Politics and film ? :

There are talks Nitin Gadkari may be opted out of election race in 2024. But it is also true that candidates are decided purely on merit. "When every seat is critical, the BJP leadership will certainly not overlook a sitting MP if he has winnability on his side,” a leader has been quoted as saying in 'Indian Express'.

Speaking at the trailer launch of a film titled 'Gadkari', BJP leader and Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said: “Gadkari is like Raj Kapoor. He dreams big, and he also pursues his dreams to their logical end… His innovative and visionary leadership is an inspiration for us.”

The Deputy CM talked about Gadkari’s performance as a minister, whether in the Union Transport Ministry and earlier as PWD Minister in Maharashtra. “Gadkari had rejected Reliance’s tender of Rs 3,600 crore for the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. He completed the project for Rs 1,600 crore,” Fadnavis said.

He also talked about working with Gadkari closely from a young age in Nagpur, and recounted how the 66-year-old had once campaigned with a fractured leg to ensure that the BJP won the Nagpur Municipal Corporation polls.

The Marathi film titled 'Gadkari' is to be released on Oct 27. Interestingly, the minister skipped trailer launch attended by top Nagpur BJP leaders, aides say Gadkari's only intent was to encourage young filmmakers.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

It’s rare for a living politician to be memorialised on the silver screen – rarer still in the top-heavy BJP, where such honours have been reserved for only Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The release of the trailer this week in Gadkari’s home town Nagpur answered as many questions as it raised. The BJP’s star brigade from Nagpur, led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and including local party MLAs, was present in strength – but neither was Gadkari, nor any other non-Nagpur BJP leader of significance.
