Security forces on move in Manipur ::::: Drug peddler arrested :::: Fringe and vulnerable areas domination persist

Security forces in Manipur continue to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts. 


On 14th April 2026 at around 10:30 AM, based on credible information, a joint operation was conducted at Tulihal Airport, Imphal.


A joint team comprising CISF, Assam Rifles and Manipur Airport Police arrested one suspected drug peddler, namely Md. Sabir Ahamed of Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong, Moirang Sub-Division, Bishnupur District at the airport.










Upon examination of his checked-in baggage. approximately 6.74 kg (including container weight) of suspected Brown Sugar, concealed inside six (06) containers was detected and seized. 


The accused and seized items were handed over to Singjamei Police Station, where a case has been registered for further investigation.


During preliminary interrogation, the accused disclosed information regarding a concealed cache of arms and ammunition in Kwakta area of Bishnupur District. Acting on this input, security forces proceeded towards the area.


At around 1:30 PM, while en route near Thinungei, Bishnupur District, movement of the security team was obstructed by local persons following the spread of mischievous and unverified rumours regarding the identity and purpose of the personnel. A mob gathered and stopped the vehicles of the security forces.








Movement of 206 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

A total of 114 Nakas/Check points were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley, and 29 persons were detained for violation of curfew.  


On 13.04.2026, security forces destroyed 04 (four) bunkers at Mongkot Chepu village areas under Litan-PS, Ukhrul district. Thirty five empty cases were also recovered.

In a heartfelt initiative to strengthen ties with retired personnel, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, Rangapahar organized an Ex-Servicemen Meet in Chandel district of Manipur. 

The event brought together veterans from the region to celebrate their dedication and contributions to the nation.


Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, GOC SpearCorps, graced the occasion and personally interacted with the ex-servicemen, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and sacrifices. 


He highlighted the crucial role played by veterans in shaping the legacy of the armed forces and maintaining a culture of discipline, service, and patriotism.


During the meet, the veterans were felicitated for their distinguished service, reinforcing the bond between the active forces and retired personnel.
