Poll panel rebuts Rahul Gandhi's charge yet again !! - Only 24 pleas in Aland were genuine

Only 24 pleas in Aland were genuine: Poll panel rebuts Rahul Gandhi's charge

The Karnataka poll panel said that they had received over 6,000 pleas in 2022 over electors' name deletion. Upon further probe, the poll panel found that only 24 complaints were genuine.

No concrete evidence given by Congress: BJP leader on Rahul Gandhi's 'vote chori' claims

Delhi BJP leader Kamaljee Sehrawat slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his vote theft allegations, saying not a single complaint to this effect was received by the Election Commission.

"Rahul Gandhi has not yet been able to file an official objection with the Election Commission. Around 4,000 objections have been filed from Bihar, none of which have come from Congress or other parties. Whatever they (Rahul Gandhi) say, they cannot provide any authentic evidence for it.

Rahul Gandhi has many workers from his own party there (in Bihar); it would be much better if he verified with them and then says something," Kaur said.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka has said that 6,018 online pleas over deletion of electors’ names in Aland assembly segment ahead of the 2023 polls were investigated two years ago and only 24 were found genuine. The poll panel added that the detailed information about the cases had also been handed to police.

The response was poll panel’s direct response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of systematic “vote chori”.

Rahul Gandhi had on Thursday accused the Election Commission and its chief of protecting “vote chors”, saying data from Aland showed thousands of Congress voters were being targeted for deletion and demanding the poll panel hand over information to the Karnataka CID.

The Congress had cited details of alleged attempts to delete 6,018 votes in Karnataka's Aland constituency in the run up to 2023 assembly polls.

The Election Commission earlier described those broad allegations as “incorrect and baseless”, saying no deletion can happen without giving affected electors a chance to be heard.

Karnataka's poll panel offered a more detailed reply on the panel.

The state election office said the local officer in charge of voter rolls in Aland received 6,018 applications in December 2022. These were filed online through different government apps. Given the unusually high number of requests, election officials carried out a detailed verification of each application in 2023.

‘Incorrect and baseless’: Election Commission dismisses Rahul Gandhi’s vote deletion allegations

Earlier Rahul Gandhi said:

“I am telling Gyanesh Kumar you have taken an oath. CID is asking for proof, submit it within a week’s time.

The chief election commissioner is protecting people who are doing this, the vote-chors. This is absolute, solid proof. I am making such direct accusation against Gyanesh Kumar".
