New Delhi

There was a large protest in Jama Masjid complex and adjoining areas in old Delhi
on Friday.

The protest was ostensibly against BJP leaders for recent controversial remarks, but Shahi Imam
of Jama Masjid washed off his hands and instead chose to blame AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi
for the huge crowd gathering.

"No call was given for protest by the Masjid," said Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid.

Police said though there was huge crowd due to Friday prayers, the situation was under control.

"We don't know who are the ones protesting, I think they belong to AIMIM or are Owaisi's people. We made it
clear that if they want to protest, they can; - but we will not support them,"
Shahi Imam said.

It is not for the first time the Jama Masjid premises and occasions of prayers have been made use
politically by a section of Muslim leaders.

A police official said, people protested at Jama Masjid against the statements of suspended BJP leader
Nupur Sharma and expelled BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal.

"We have removed the people from there. The situation is under control now," he said.

It may be mentioned that the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday denied the claims by the visiting
Iranian Minister that he raised the issue of derogatory remarks against Mohammad (the founder of Islam)
in his meeting with the Indian dignitaries including EAM S Jaishankar and the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.

“My understanding is that this issue was not raised during that conversation”, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said

The BJP has issued a statement saying the party and the government in India is committed to the cherished
spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and inclusive development for all and allows freedom of religion to people.

"As India celebrates 75th year of its Independence, we are committed to making India a great
country where all are equal and everyone lives with dignity, where all are committed to India's unity
and integrity, where all enjoy the fruits of growth and development," BJP leader Arun Singh said.

"During the thousands of years of history of India every religion has blossomed and flourished.
The Bharatiya Janata Party respects all religions," he has said.

After issuing rape and death threats and announcing bounty, Islamists have adopted the Taliban style to show their hatred toward Nupur Sharma.

Nupur Sharma’s effigy was found hanging today (June 10) near Dargah at the Ford Road of Belagavi, Karnataka. There is currently no information about the miscreants who did this act. Karnataka Police said the effigy was hanged at night and the police removed it after it came to their notice at dawn.

Ever since alleged ‘fact-checker’ and Alt News co-founder Muhammad Zubair posted a doctored 85-second video of Nupur Sharma by twisting her words on Muhammad’s life, the former spokesperson of BJP has become a centre of the target of Islamists.

After the video went viral, several Islamists issued rape and threats to the former spokesperson of the BJP. AIMIM (Inquilab)’s Qavi Abbasi even announced a bounty of 1 crore on Nupur Sharma.

Yesterday the Muslim mob blocked the Delhi-Kolkata National Highway near Ankurhati on NH 116 for 11 hours to protest against Nupur Sharma. The blockade resulted in severe traffic disruption. The Islamists went berserk during the protest; they burnt tyres, harassed civilians, and shouted slogans, demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma.

After several rounds of negotiations between protesters and Domjur Trinamool MLA Kalyan Ghosh, local clerics and cops, Islamists cleared the way after 9 pm.

Several Islamic leaders warned Nupur Sharma, saying she deserve the same fate as Kamlesh Tiwari.

Despite issuing an apology for her comments on Muhammad’s life, the Islamists didn’t stop attacking Nupur Sharma. They are not only attacking Nupur but are going after those who are supporting her comments.

Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders, who came out in support of Nupur Sharma, said he had been receiving death threats from Muslims for supporting Nupur Sharma’s comments on Muhammad’s life.

Indian historians ignored Ahoms,Pallavas but focused only on Mughals: Amit Shah

New Delhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the historians have ignored
several prominent dynasties including Cholas, Pallavas and Ahoms but gave
importance only to Mughals.

"I want to tell something to the historians. We have many empires but historians have concentrated only on the
Mughals and wrote only about them," Shah said during the launch of the book, 'Maharana: Sahastra Varsha Ka
Dharma Yuddha' in the capital.

He also said, "When independent historians write history, only truth comes up ....".

He said the Pandyas empire ruled for 800 years, the Ahom empire ruled Assam for 650 years. The Ahoms even
defeated Bakhtiyar Khilji, Aurangzeb and kept Assam sovereign. The Pallava Empire ruled for 600 years. The Cholas
ruled for 600 years, but all these did not get adequate importance in Indian history.

"The Mauryas ruled the whole country -- from Afghanistan to Lanka for 550 years. The Satvahanas
ruled for 500 years. The Guptas ruled for 400 years and Samudragupta had for the first time envisioned
a united India and established an empire with the whole country. But there is no reference book on them," he lamented.

The history which "we believe wrong will gradually fade away and the truth will emerge" only
when good numbers of reference books are written on these empires.

"By keeping aside comments, our glorious history should be kept in front of the public.
When we make big efforts, then automatically the attempt of falsehood becomes small," he maintained.

Mr Shah said some historians have written some books on a small scale but no one has done any
comprehensive work on the history of the whole country and there is limited reference books.

He said history is not written on the basis of victory or defeat, but it ought to be penned
on the basis of the outcome of an event.

History is not made on the basis of the government and books, truth is made on the basis of events, he said.

"No one can stop us from writing the truth. We are now independent. We can write our own history," he said.

Some books and history references may generate disappointment, but he said India is such a country where
disappointment cannot survive.

"It may be decades, 50 years or a hundred year but at the end it is the truth which will emerge victorious," he said.
