Updated June 25: Rivalry turns bitter, "If any harm to our families..." Eknath Shinde writes to Uddhav on withdrawal of security

Rivalry gets bitter, MLAs offices are attacked, security of legislators and their residence and families withdrawn. these are the signs of a government which has lost political control and would soon have to give up administrative powers ....Uddhav Thackeray is on way out! Pawar machinations may also fail.

Amid political impasse in Maharashtra, rebel Shiv Sena leader and state cabinet minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday wrote to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the alleged 'malicious' withdrawal of security of family members of the 38 MLAs camping with him in a Guwahati hotel.

In his letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister and State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, rebel Sena leader Shinde claimed that the security provided to the MLAs at their residence as well as to their family members as per the protocol has been illegally and unlawfully withdrawn, as an act of revenge.

"Needless to mention, this sinister move is another attempt to break our resolve and arm-twist us to give in to the demands of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government comprising of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress goons," he said.

He said the threats due to which the MLAs were forced to leave Maharashtra have been compounded by "these actions on the part of MVA leaders".

"We further state that not only the security of our families and relatives have been compromised by removing the security personnel but also there is an ongoing agenda wherein various lenders of the MVA government are instigating the cadres of their respective parties to take up violence to further intimidate us," he said.

Shinde alleged that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut threatened the MLAs by stating that he would make it difficult for the MLAs who have left to return to Maharashtra and move around in the state.

We have 200 hotels in Guwahati and all have guests. Would we remove guests stating the flood situation? BJP is supporting (rebel Shiv Sena MLAs) in Maharashtra, I won't get involved: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

"Our job is to provide security, comfort stay to anyone who's come from outside. Tomorrow, even if Congress comes, I will extend the same welcome. I am grateful Shiv Sena came, its the reason Assam's flood was highlighted".

Rebel Sena leader Eknath Shinde writes to Deputy Speaker for his 'appointment' as the leader of Shiv Sena Legislature Party

What is most satisfying part of Maharashtra crisis is that finally #Maratha strongman - a permanent PM-material according to a section of Left-liberal 'bada pao party' journos and intellectuals got a message. Every man's days would get over. Pls stay home !

Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde wrote to the Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly regarding the reaffirmation of his appointment as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party & further appointment of Bharatshet Gogawale as the Chief Whip of the party.

The letter has the signatures of 37 Shiv Sena MLAs and a copy of the letter has been sent to Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and Secretary to the Legislative Council Rajendra Bhagwat.

Maharashtra Independent MLAs Kishor Jorgewar and Geeta Jain also reached the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati.

New Delhi

After two days of push and pull as the numbers are clear in favour of BJP, the saffron party may soon take a stand on formation of an alternative government
along with Shiv Sena rebels.

Eknath Shinde blow has hit Shiv Sena and its leader Uddhav Thackeray hard and
as per reports as many as 46 Sena legislators may now back the rebels.

With 46 Sena rebels and seven others, the BJP camp has indicated that its number
has touched 159 mark - much ahead of 145 to form a government in Maharashtra.

The BJP on its own has 106 members while NCP has 53 and Congress 44.

Sena chief and 'chief minister' Uddhav is left with 13 MLAs only. There has been a series of high drama involving the rebellion in Sena and altogether 42 rebel legislators are now camping in a Guwahati hotel.

Sources say the BJP is chalking out strategies and a series of meetings have been held at the residence of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the present LoP.

The reality is the Sena legislators know heart in heart the 'compromise' made by Uddhav vis-a-vis Hindutva principles would be difficult for them to justify when they seek mandate in 2024.

The Sena rebel leader Shinde is a current Member of Legislative Assembly from Kopri-Pachpakhadi

constituency in Thane.

He has been elected consecutively for 4 terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 2004, 2009, 2014 & 2019

A letter made available by the dissident camp says - "Despite having a Shiv Sena CM in the state the

party MLAs didn't get the opportunity to visit Varsha Bungalow (CM's official residence). People around the

CM used to decide if we could meet him or not. We felt we were insulted".

The biggest faultline in the Sena-led government's approach was the anti-Hindutva stance of Uddhav Thackeray regime. Sena elected members knew they cannot face voters with this style of functioning.
