Back on tracks, Neeraj Chopra breaks national record

New Delhi

On his return to international competition, in Turku in Finland on Tuesday, 'golden boy' of Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra, made a national record.

With only his second throw in international competition since the historic Gold Medal win in Tokyo, Chopra came up with an effort of 89.30m.

This breaks his own national record by more than a metre.

However, Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with his Javelin throw at the event.

This was Neeraj's first competitive outing since the Tokyo Games. Finland's Oliver

Helander won the gold medal with a throw of 89.83 metres.

Neeraj had won the Tokyo Olympics gold with a throw of 87.58m on August 7, 2021.

He is India's first ever Olympic gold medalist in athletics and only the second individual gold medal

winner at Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra's 89.30m effort takes him to the fifth spot in the world season leaders' list.
