Time to call spade a spade .... Nagas know who has 'delayed' solution, Muivah wants to impose 'authoritarian' rule : NNPG

"People must call spade a spade .....  it is visible to the Naga people as to who are playing chameleon’s role and delaying the Indo-Naga solution,” - NNPG convener, N Kitovi Zhimomi

Kitovi appealed to all sections of the Naga society and asserted - the “negotiations have officially concluded and therefore the political leadership of India must take the decision.”

"The culture of  dictating Nagas through threats and intimidation is a thing of the past"- insists a man of few words, N Kitovi

Bitterness is far from over. Tribalism is back as the talking point perhaps
with all its vengeance.

The debate is between the right of the 'Nagas of Nagas' and their southern brothers -- that is the Nagas and especially Tangkhuls now inhabitant of hills in Manipur.

The Naga National Political Group (NNPG), the umbrella organisation of seven militant groups operating within the state Nagaland says, the NSCN-IM led by Thuingaleng Muivah (a Tangkhul Naga himself) wants to impose an 'authoritarian rule' of the Tangkhul Nagas and designed to make the Pan Naga Hoho chairman a 'dictator' over the present state of Nagaland.

"If this is not a glimpse of a determined plan for a backdoor entry into Nagaland in the near future what else is", the NNPG working committee said in its statement.

For 25 years Muivah and few of his "trusted tribesmen" have been demanding from the Govt of India a "democratic nation, to allow them to begin an authoritarian regime in Nagaland".

The umbrella body which inked the 2017 Agreed Position with the centre and now waiting impatiently for a final pact, also said - "would any Naga worth his salt hide the post solution political or administrative blueprint from the Naga people for 25 years".

The reference is to prolonged talks that began in 1997 and is still not able to throw up a solution.

In fact, while the Govt of India and some other stakeholders including the then Governor (R N Ravi) had made a statement on the floor of the assembly that talks were over in October 2019, the NSCN-IM surprisingly says negotiations were still on, and that the Pan Naga Hoho matters were still in 'incubation'.

All these complexities have now forced NNPG to issue a strong statement - stating -
"It is clear that the Naga tribes from within the present state of Nagaland have been taken for a ride".

The NNPG headed by its convener N Kitovi Zhimomi further says - "The brazen justification of the Pan Naga Hoho admitting that it is at incubating stage and being concretized sounds most outrageous".

The NSCN-IM recently said there was no need for media speculation on what Pan Naga Hoho and how powerful its chairman would be.

The news about Pan Naga Hoho and that its chairman wanted powers similar to Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin spread like a wildfire on and after June 5 (post mid night of June 4, 2022).

Many Nagas - known as a "God fearing community" and with unflinching loyalty towards Christianity - categorically disapproved of any alleged 'communist agenda'.

This is not the first time the NNPG has issued a strong statement on NSCN-IM.

Last month the NNPG stated - "Nagaland today is a land where tenants ..... dream to be landlords through heckling, harassing and brutalizing the owners with symbolic tools like Integration, flag, constitution, Pan Naga Hoho etc".

In Tuesday's statement, the umbrella body also said, "Today the communist-socialist inspired philosophy from within Nagas, in the form of obnoxious Pan Naga Hoho powered by a despicable code called Yehzabo (Naga Constitution) is being marketed in Nagaland".

"This political philosophy exists only in the imagination of few southern Naga IM leaders. It will have no buyers in Nagaland. This idea originated from a mind or minds who do not understand the real meaning of a resistance movement," the NNPG statement.

A few days back, the NSCN-IM in its statement has said - "The PNH does not undermine any democratic political institution as perceived by others.Such a widely diffused view is unfounded".

The NNPG said, today, in the guise of Naga cause, they (NSCN-IM) paint the Naga future landscape with a 'democratic brush but their dictatorial ambition is visible'.

In reference to the allegation that the NSCN-IM is looking legitimacy for 'Manipur Nagas' in Nagaland state, the NNPG has sought to clarify that there are certain "inalienable rights" of Naga tribes in Nagaland which the Southern Naga leaders (Manipur Nagas) within and the NSCN-IM must stay away from.

"Nagaland or for that matter Naga areas in other states have their very own indigenous Naga tribe inhabiting a particular area with full community ownership. No part of it can be ceded to another tribe or can be declared a common property of all Nagas now or in the future," the NNPG asserted.

In yet another related development, a meeting was convened by Nagaland Gao Burrah Federation (NGBF) which was attended by the civil society organisations, tribal bodies, public leaders and intellectuals on June 21 in Dimapur.

Among other things, the meeting resolved that the Nagas of Nagaland shall stand as "one entity and we shall collectively react to any discriminating action meted out to any individual or community by any element".

The pressure is being mounted further.
