Modi's gift to Quad leaders - reflection of rich Indian art and tradition :: BJP blasts Rahul for meeting 'anti-Kashmir' Labour leader Corbyn

New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gifted a Gond art painting, a specimen of Sanjhi art form and a wooden hand-carved box to his fellow Quad leaders from Australia, the US and Japan.

"Never has PM Shri @narendramodi ji lost an opportunity to reinforce India's traditional culture and he does so with thoughtful selection. In Japan, Shri Modi gifted a hand-carved box with Rogan painting from Gujarat's Kutch to Japan's PM Fumio Kishida," tweeted BJP leader and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.

The Prime Minister gifted a wooden hand-carved box with Rogan painting to his Japanese

counterpart Fumio Kishida.

This art object is a combination of two different arts -- Rogan painting and wooden hand carving.

Rogan painting is an art of cloth printing practised in the Kutch district of Gujarat. In this craft,

paint made from boiled oil and vegetable dyes is laid down on fabric using either a metal block

(printing) or a stylus (painting).

Modi's gift to US President Joe Biden was an intricate Sanjhi panel based on the theme of

Thakurani Ghat from Mathura by a national awardee, sources said.

It may be stated that Sanjhi, the art of hand-cutting designs on paper, is a typical art form of

Mathura.

Mr Modi gifted a Madhya Pradesh-origin Gond art painting to newly-elected Australian Prime Minister

Anthony Albanese.

Gond paintings are one of the most admired tribal art forms. The word ’Gond' comes from the

expression ’Kond' which means ’green mountain'.

These paintings, created by dots and lines, have been a part of pictorial art on walls and floors of

Gonds and it is done with the construction and re-construction of each and every house

with locally available natural colours and materials like charcoal, coloured soil, plant sap, leaves,

cow dung and limestone powder.

Gond art is also considered very similar to the aboriginal art of Australia.

BJP blasts Rahul for meeting 'anti-Kashmir' Labour leader Corbyn

New Delhi

Congress lawmaker and a former party chief, Rahul Gandhi, met controversialBritish Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in London.

The episode triggered a row as BJP leader and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju lashed out  at the Congress leader.

"Again.. Rahul Gandhi meets UK MP and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who is known for his hatred and dislike for India, advocates Kashmir’s secession.

For how long and how much one can go on against one's own country?," tweeted Rijiju sharing a picture of Rahul Gandhi with Jeremy Corbyn.

The photograph also has Sam Pitroda, a close associate of the Rahul-Sonia family.

Pitroda in the 2019 election campaign had also made an infamous statement on anti-Sikhmayhem of 1984 stating - "Hua toh hua".

Corbyn was leader of the Opposition in England from 2015 to 2020 and is known for his anti-India views.

Other BJP leaders also slammed Rahul Gandhi.

"Jeremy is known for his visceral dislike for India, advocates Kashmir's secession and is unequivocally anti-Hindu," BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted.

"Gandhi has finally found his overseas collaborator, who denigrates India with the same impunity as him," Malviya maintained.

On May 21, after Rahul Gandhi tried to draw Indian foreign ministry and diplomats into row;Law Minister Kiren Rijiju had said - "Since someone is attacking India on foreign soil and lamenting the independence of our Foreign Service, ......Congress style functioning - diplomats were busy fixing colleges for grandkids of Pandit Nehru. Congress should be ashamed".

This was in reference to a Twitter missive that claimed T N Kaul, who became foreign secretary later, had recommended Trinity College for Rajiv Gandhi.
