From a hesitant voice to a confident global leader.
But Namo has still never given a press conference in India as prime minister.
Narendra Modi’s critics say he has governed with an iron fist; but admirers say that's a decisive PM should be.

For decades, India was trapped in an era of delays, scandals and indecision. Reforms remained stuck in committees, welfare benefits leaked through middlemen, major sectors froze under policy uncertainty, and economic momentum slowed.
Then came a shift in governance.
🔹 GST transformed a fragmented tax system into One Nation, One Tax
🔹 Direct Benefit Transfers enabled welfare to reach beneficiaries directly
🔹 Transparent auctions replaced opaque allocations in key sectors
🔹 Coal production crossed 1 billion tonnes
🔹 India became home to the world's cheapest mobile data ecosystem
🔹 From Chandrayaan-3 to G20 leadership, India's global confidence surged

Narendra Modi had stormed to power in 2014 in part on promises to create millions of jobs.
Many young Indians, hungry for work and frustrated by corruption, enthusiastically backed him to get the country’s economy moving.
But there have been allegations that the Modi economy is actually shedding work, not creating it.
In 2019, it was alleged that authorities had for weeks refused to release some crucial unemployment data.
In the same year, India’s unemployment rate had grown to 6.1%, the highest rate in 45 years. But there has been no 'major decline' in Modi's ability to garner votes.
India and Pakistan’s tit-for-tat air and "terror" strikes in 2016 and in 2019 had put national security high on the political and election agenda.
Narendra Modi has successfully fashioned himself as the nation’s chowkidar (security guard), even changing his Twitter handle once to add the title.
Modi Hat-trick as PM was a reality in 2024 !!
A leader India was waiting for, a leader India trusted ... a leader who abrogated Art 370....brought Ram temple .... but also was 'rebuked' by a section of voters in 2024. As the number of seats dropped down to 240 from 303; his critics thought the 'detractor' has lost ground.
"With his air of invincibility punctured, politicians, business people, officials and broadcasters may be somewhat less eager to dance to his tune," went a commentary in a section of western media.
The Farm sector remains a challenge.
We may not say the Indian farmers are ailing. But the sector needs reform. A sincere effort made in 2021 was withdrawn due to electoral considerations vis-a-vis two key northern states Punjab (the food bowl of India) and Uttar Pradesh - that sends maximum 80 MPs.
Years of droughts and crop failures have wrecked the agriculturists and their businesses.
Over the years, the basic India's menace has been that the government "favoured" policies that keep food prices low to benefit the country’s urban masses.
Tens of thousands of farmers have marched on Delhi regularly -- sometime in motivated campaign.
The Modi government has sought to win them over with a series of cash handouts. But the long term measures would be still needed.
Some steps such as Soil Health Cards has been a good experiment nevertheless.
