Shashi Tharoor attacks "critics and trolls :::::: "We are not a country looking for war or destruction," says Congress leader Salman Khurshid :::: Kiren Rijiju flays Congress for attacking Shashi Tharoor

Now, Shashi Tharoor attacks "critics and trolls"

"I was clearly and explicitly speaking only about reprisals for terrorist attacks and not about previous wars; &

2. My remarks were preceded by a reference to the several attacks that have taken place in recent years alone, during which previous Indian responses were both restrained and constrained by our responsible respect for the LoC and the IB.

But as usual, critics and trolls are welcome to distort my views and words as they see fit. I genuinely have better things to do."

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, during the meeting with Panamanian Foreign Minister Javier Martínez Acha, said:

"Terrorism should not be a resort of attempting to address international disputes.

If there are problems, there are other ways of dealing with them.

Sending terrorists across the border is simply unacceptable and that should be made clear.

We should go after the perpetrators, the killers, ourselves, and we will do so.

But those who give them safe haven, those who protect, finance, train, arm, dispatch, and guide them should also be held accountable..."

The Kerala MP has already courted controversy by his remarks in a meeting with the Indian community in Panama city.

Tharoor had echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement, stressing that Operation Sindoor was essential after the killing of 26 people in Pahalgam.  “Our Prime Minister has made it very clear Operation Sindoor was necessary because these terrorists came and wiped the sindoor off the foreheads of 26 women by depriving them of their husbands and fathers, their married lives,” he said.

He also had said:

"Some women cried out. The told th terrorists - killed me too, and they said, 'No, go back, tell what happened to you'. We heard, we heard their cries and India decided that the colour of the sindoor, the vermilion colour on the forehead of our women, will also match the colour of the blood of the killers, the perpetrators, the attackers..."

Tharoor’s statements seen by Congress leaders as pro-Modi drew sharp reactions.

Congress leader Udit Raj accused him of doing a better job than any BJP spokesperson in praising Prime Minister Modi. “Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is the super spokesperson of the BJP, and what the BJP leaders are not saying when it came to speaking in favour of PM Modi and the government, he is doing”.

On Thursday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju joined the issue and said:

"...There’s limit to political desperation!"

"What does the Congress party want & How much they really care for the country?  Should the Indian MPs go to foreign nation and speak against India and its Prime Minister?"

Analysts feel a displeased Congress leadership may summon and grill Shashi Tharoor for his remarks in favour of the Prime Minister. There are chances that he would be served with a show cause notice too.

At Jakarta in Indonesia, addressing the Indonesian think Tanks and Academia, former External Affairs Minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid said:

"... It is in the defence of peace and prosperity that we've had to act in the recent incidents...  You consider national unity between different religions, subcultures, and subsets of the population to be significant for the growth and prosperity of your nation.

We share this with you.

"Our enemies want to destroy this very fabric of our society... You understand both our pain and our concern as you've suffered similar experiences in the past... Narratives that sometimes come from the part of the world that may or may not have suffered a similar experience are not necessarily authentic...

We are not a country looking for war or destruction...

We've been greatly reassured and encouraged by the responses we've had from your government and your officials, and we believe that this will be a chapter in further cooperation between our two great countries."

In Panama City, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said: "Most of the terror attacks that have taken place over the last few decades have emanated from Pakistan and have not restricted themselves to their immediate geography but have left footprints all over the world.

Osama Bin Laden was found in Pakistan's Abbottabad, where he found a safe haven...

Panama today holds a very important position in the UN Security Council.

We humbly urge you to please take cognizance of this very important fact about Pakistani terrorism as a global threat and support India's case."
