Suspended Congress leader Sanjay Jha says --- "Congress has not given Tharoor the respect he deserved" ::::::: "We were just conducting retribution for a terrorist attack. If they stop, we stop," says Shashi Tharoor

Suspended Congress leader Sanjay Jha says:

"The Congress party should realise the reality that Shashi Tharoor is not the ordinary politician we have in this country.

This is the reason BJP is the star in the entire diplomatic offensive".

"I think the Congress has not given him the kind of respect he deserved.

"I would like to see Shashi as the voice of the Lok Sabha on behalf of the Congress party".

He said it is possible that "talented" leaders such as Tharoor or P Chidambaram may feel they are in the periphery are "unable to play mainstream role in Indian polity" because Congress is out of power for long.

"...We received a number of phone calls from Senior United States officials and also from senior officials of other countries, of France, of UAE, of Saudi Arabia and so on. And the message we gave to all these countries was exactly the same. We are not interested in war.

We were just conducting retribution for a terrorist attack. If they stop, we stop,"  Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said  Bogotá, Colombia on the question of any third-country mediation between India and Pakistan.

"If that message was then in turn conveyed by such countries to Pakistan, it may well have had an effect in persuading Pakistan to stop knowing that their stopping would also mean India would stop.

So it's possible that that's what happened. But certainly there was no sort of active process of mediation that we are aware of.

Certainly nothing involving us because we never intended to begin with from the very first day when the anti-terror strikes took place on the night of the 7th of May...

We are not the belligerent power in this particular equation."

Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora says,

"The issue of terrorism, which, as I said, there are fundamental differences. You (Colombia) have faced some form of guerrilla war, which we have also encountered and continue to encounter in some parts of India, with what's called naxalism or left-wing extremism.

With Pakistan, we are facing a very different kind of threat. It's a pure state-sponsored terror, and that is the distinction that is the message we wanted to bring from the people of India...".
