'Operation Sindoor' - a big win ..... deputing Shashi Tharoor overseas a master stroke: North East BJP leader Imkong L. Imchen

Operation Sindoor - a big win, deputing Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor overseas for outreach a master stroke:  Imkong L. Imchen

New Delhi

Senior BJP leader in north east, Imkong L. Imchen on Friday welcomed Govt of India's decision to depute a team of parliamentarians to reach out to countries such as Qatar and the US on 'Operation Sindoor' and India-Pakistan ties.

"Oh, well that is a master stroke. A very powerful message will go abroad. Shashi Tharoor is a former UN diplomat and has a status. He is a famous writer and good orator. The entire team of MPs will put up a grand show," Imchen told this journalist over phone.

To a question, he said, "Operation Sindoor is a great victory. Congrats to all. Congrats to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ji. Everyone has done a great job.

It may turn out to be a historic win".

Imchen said: "The national issues means we should be all united. During Kargil, one Naga officer gave away his life. India's first Prime Minister Nehru appreciated the oratory skills of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and even sent him abroad. In the 1990s, P V Narasimha Rao as Prime Minister deputed Late Atal ji again to represent India in a crucial UN meeting at Geneva."

Imchen, a former Nagaland Minister and now a state legislator, also said --- "Political infighting should never be linked to security matters. As the world's largest democracy, now, we have to show maturity. We have to use this moment for economic and diplomatic leverage internationally.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's May 12 address to the nation, Imchen said:

"Yes, PM Shri Modi ji's speech that evening was very good. Important thing on that day or at that moment was that the Prime Minister should speak to the nation and give us all the assurance. The country needed him on May 11 or 12th to do that. I welcome that he did so".

On Congress criticism to Modi's address and not for naming US President Donald Trump;

he said -- " It has come to light now that while Trump's tweet on social media came around 5.30 pm on May 10th; already by 3.30 PM; Indian and Pakistani top army officers have spoken and a decision was taken.

As I have said on these matters of national importance and security, everything cannot be spoken openly. Some of these things ought to be understood".

Asked on the opposition parties' demand for a Parliament session; Imchen said:

"Well, that's a legitimate demand. The political parties and the MPs and even the people of India can make demands for an informed debate on such a major event. We have hit the terror hubs in Pakistan.... How many? There were three such training centres and about 100 terrorists killed.

But as a responsible citizen we should not dictate terms. The Prime Minister has the right to decide about the timing of the Parliament session on the matter. "

To another question -- what has been achieved by Operation Sindoor in South Asian context, he said:

"India has been able to give the right message. We have given the right message to Pakistan and also to the western players".

To another question, he said: "As someone who has taken keen interest in Asian geo-politics, I will always say that China and India are two important and powerful neighbours. Both are doing trades and in the BRICS, all three China, India and also Russia are cooperating among themselves.

The geo-politics as a phenomenon has changed from what it used to be. Among other countries, the United States is always very important. India, Japan, Australia and the US have a group called Quad. Nagas and our northeastern people will also have to change and get in tune with the global world reality".
