"India must invest not just in war-fighting capabilities but in narrative warfare too" - Lt Gen Abhay Krisha (Retd)
The government pointed out to a statement by
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lt. Gen Rajiv Ghai:
(during the briefing on Operation Sindoor)
-- "...even though we did attempt to reach out and communicate our compulsions to strike at the heart of terror to my counterpart in the immediate wake of Operation Sindoor, the request was brusquely turned down with an intimation that a severe response was inevitable and in the offing.
We were, of course, prepared".
But nothing matters more for Congress ... than the power and that too power and importance for the dynasty. Hence Rahul Gandhi is busy.... he is busy targeting External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. But in the process he is putting the question - Pakistan is playing up --
"How many aircraft did our airforce lose"?
It is more than sad that the grand old party should be doing these gimmicks when its creditable MPs -- not the Rajya Sabha syyocphants - Shashi Tharoor and P Chidambaram (of course he is in Upper House) but his son is in Lok Sabha - have applauded Indian forces and the government's handling of Operation Sindoor.
Rahul is more furious as Shashi Tharoor easily outshines the son and grand son and also great grand son of One Prime Minister Rajiv and also Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.
And the Modi government has given importance to Shashi Tharoor.
On Saturday, Rahul shared a video of Dr Jaishankar interacting with the media wherein Dr Jaishankar said:
"At the start of the operation, we have sent a message to Pakistan, saying we are striking at infrastructure and we are not striking at the military, so the military has an option of standing out and not interfering in this process. They chose not to take good advice."
"Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our airforce lose as a result?" he asked.
The government fact-checked it through PIB and the MEA's external division also issued a clarification asserting that -- "This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out.”
But dynasts and when they pretend to be champions of democracy will not value such statements.
Rahul's "bizare lies" will continue.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla shared video of a news bulletin from Pakistan's Geo News and said, "Rahul Gandhi's bizarre lies making it to Pakistani media. Both speak the same language.. Is it a mere coincidence?"
Reposting the video today, Mr Gandhi said the External Affairs Minister's "silence isn't just telling - it's damning". "So I'll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn't a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth," he said.
Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera repeated Mr Gandhi's allegations during a press briefing.
There is another factor at play. The arms lobbies of China and the United States.
I interacted with Lt Gen Abhay Krishna (Retd), former army commander on some of these issues.
He has been chief of three Army commands - South Western Command, Eastern Command and Central Command and he puts it rather acidly:
"That's why it is called perception war. It is different from a battle on the ground.
Some of the headlines in the western media are comical but they also make me angry. One paper says: "Pakistan feels like it's winning". It is a distortion ....Despite India’s clear tactical edge in Op Sindoor, global media coverage and especially in the West are often parroting Pakistani talking points.
"This isn’t a coincidence. There are structural incentives behind it. Much of Pakistan’s military runs on American defence technology and thus, admitting to its failure would also mean admitting to the under-performance of American systems.
At a time when the US is battling for defence export dominance, that kind of media narrative will be totally inconvenient".
The retired General also said:
"India must invest not just in war-fighting capabilities but in narrative warfare too".
Very true General Abhay Krishna narrative warfare is essential but this media is creating a problem for the country and government both as it is more interested in proving personal loyalty then setting the narrative and very committed to cook and air controversies. I think Modi should have send this diplomatic missions before beginning Operation Sindoor.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully expressed and totally agreed to. Modern warfare is evolving rapidly. By investing in advanced technologies and strategic capabilities, India can safeguard its interests and deter potential threats.
ReplyDeleteThat’s true Gen Abhay. Narrative War investment an absolute requirement. More so to neutralise the anti-nationals within the country because these are the elements giving the inimical forces the necessary spring-boards.
