Amid socio political turmoil; Bangladesh Army chief Waker-uz-Zaman to visit China :::::: Increased army patrols ... Yunus reportedly held a secret meeting with Chief Justice

Bangladesh Army Chief Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman set to visit China

Addressing a press conference at the Army Headquarters in Dhaka, senior Army officer Brigadier General Md Nazim-ud-Daula denied any discord between Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman and the Chief Advisor of the interim government.

"This issue is extremely sensitive, and I urge everyone not to misinterpret the situation. There is no difference of opinion between the government and the Bangladesh Army. We are working together, complementing each other in every step," Brigadier General Nazim-ud-Daula said.

Calling the Army and government "parts of the same family", the officer said that any minor differences should be viewed in context.

"Just like in any family, there may occasionally be differences in words or understanding. But these are not signs of division. They are part of the process, and everything can be resolved," he said.

The political and security situation in the country has sharply escalated.

A secret meeting between Yunus and the Chief Justice has sparked speculation about major constitutional changes tied to an upcoming July Proclamation.

Widespread unrest is unfolding—government employees are protesting disciplinary rules, while multiple affected groups plan demonstrations in the coming days.

In a sweeping crackdown, over 11,000 Awami League members have been arrested and maybe will be denied bail.

A so-called 'Confidential Meeting' on Constitution was held by Muhammad Yunus with the Chief Justice on the night of May 25 to discuss the future of the current constitution in the event of the July Proclamation.

A confidential report has been requested within 48 hours.

Secretariat Protests: For the past two days, government employees of all political affiliations have been protesting at the Secretariat, demanding the cancellation of recently imposed disciplinary rules.

Upcoming Protests:

Within the next 48 hours, several groups—including families of slain policemen, dismissed Ansar members, former Beximco employees, and garment workers—are planning coordinated protests.

Mass Arrests of Awami League Members:

On the night of May 25, approximately 11,000 Awami League leaders and activists were arrested nationwide under various sections of the Special Powers Act, with a directive to deny them bail for at least six months. This decision was finalized in a disciplinary meeting with the head of the Dhaka CMM Court.

Military Alignments:

Within the cantonment, both pro-Awami League and pro-BNP army personnel have expressed support for the Army Chief. Pro-Jamaat members remain silent.

Meanwhile, army patrols on city streets have increased.
