How - BJP is 'BJP' and Congress is a loser ???? Why and how Modi knows the art of playing masterstroke .... and Why his opponents do not have such strategy or mission

Vinay Sitapati writes in 'Indian Express' --  Bharat Ratna for Advani shows why BJP wins — and Congress loses

Not many people can deny this conjecture.

'Indian Express' article says rather acidly, "The Congress has underplayed the former prime minister’s (P V Narasimha Rao's) achievements – from liberalisation to welfare schemes – while exaggerating his role in the demolition of the Babri masjid.

Modi may also have sidelined Advani, but he dutifully greets the 96-year-old on his birthday every year. And his government has just announced a Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honour, for L K Advani."

This is the difference in basic approach between two parties. And in the long run, this makes all the 'difference'. PM Narendra Modi has actually played a masterstroke depriving Opposition yet another trump card they tried to sell that Advani was sidelined and insulted by Team Modi ever since the latter became the Prime Minister.

In 2019, Rahul Gandhi even used the phrase 'laat maarke (Advani was kicked out)'. In Uttarakhand, Rahul had said --

"Narendra Modi talks about the Hindu religion. A 'guru' is the most important thing in the Hindu religion. Advani ji is Narendra Modi's guru. Have you seen Advani ji's condition? He has been kicked out of the stage".

Now what he will say. Perhaps he has decided to be silent for a while.  But the master's parrot can do the talking.

Jairam Ramesh, now also an advisor to Rahul, says in 2002 it was L K Advani who 'saved' Narendra Modi. The reference is to 2002 post-Godhra mayhem and how Advani stalled any move to replace his handpicked lieutenant as the Gujarat Chief Minister.

Let us revisit what had happened when Narasimha Rao expired and the manner Sonia Gandhi's aide Ahmed Patel (now deceased) had pressurised Sanjaya Baru (Manmonhan Singh's media advisor) to force Rao's family to be taken away to Hyderabad.

Even the former Prime Minister's body was not allowed to be taken inside 24 Akbar Road. The 'crown prince' may take a re-look at what is really 'Laat maarna'.

Now, let us come back to 'Indian Express' article. It runs:

"Rao’s body was not allowed into the Congress party headquarters in New Delhi. And soon after his cremation in Congress-ruled Hyderabad, the body was left unguarded, allowing stray dogs to pull at the funeral pyre. It was a ghoulish beginning, and it affected Advani greatly. He asked me why the Congress treated its own so badly. He was perhaps reflecting on his own status.

He (Advan) then said: “We also have differences in our party, But we don’t treat each other like that.”

I realised later that in that sentence, Advani had described the BJP’s greatest strength — its Hindutva Fevicol.

Like in any other grouping, many in the sangh parivar dislike each other. But they are trained to avoid washing dirty linen in public. BJP politicians abandon their party much less than legislators from other parties. And no matter what their real feelings are, the rituals of public respect are maintained. As the words “sangh parivar” indicate, it is an organisational structure based on a squabbling but united family."

Here one can give a few examples. Pramod Mahajan was shot at in Mumbai and among others leaders such as Sushma Swaraj had rushed to the hospital.

We also know of tales of Vajpayee-Advani friendship. Story goes when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, once Advani and he (PM) developed some differences over the 'alleged interference' of RSS in the running of the government. There were problems between two leaders, and they needed to break the ice.

Vajpayee, a known foodie, called up Mrs Kamala Advani and told her, : "I am coming for food...". Mrs Advani said, "Please come" and then she quickly called Advani telling him to report to the house and play up a good host.

Forget Rao-Sonia differences; the Congress leadership did not show faith in Manmohan Singh once he was seen as a responsible person who could ensure Congress and UPA win in 2009. No sooner, the results of 2009 polls were out, some Congress leaders were in hurry to give credit for win to Rahul Gandhi.

Apparently, this is something Sanjaya Baru did not agree and thus in 2009, he was denied any PMO or Manmohan Singh's official assignment.
