Mixed bag :::: AGP MP from Barpeta seeks faster action from Centre to grant ST status to six newly 'selected' communities in the state ::: Union Minister Giriraj Singh says - "One who talks about jihad should be tried as per law"

On Telangana CM Revanth Reddy's remarks on Hinduism, Union Minister Giriraj Singh says,

"Congress party has started a campaign against Hindus. Whoever says things like this neither believes in India's constitution nor has anything to do with India's culture.

That person's emotions are aligned with those of the Mughal invaders... Revanth Reddy should declare the Congress Party as the Muslim League Congress Party."

On Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani's statement, he says, "Maulana Madani should go to some Islamic country as a Speaker. We don't need people like him in India. They create a divide, abuse Hindus, and there is no place for jihad in India. The one who talks about jihad should be tried as per the law."

AGP MP from Barpeta in Assam Phani Bhushan Chowdhury sought faster action from Centre to grant ST status to six newly 'selected' communities in the state.

He raised the issue during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha.

A report by Group of Ministers (GoM) presented in the Assam Assembly on Nov 30th recommended a three-tier classification of Scheduled Tribes for six communities.

While the ST (Plains) and the ST (Hills) continue to cover the existing tribal communities residing in the plains and the hills, the ST (Valley) will cover the six communities –

Ahom,

Chutia, Moran, Matak,

Koch-Rajbongshi and Tea Tribes (Adivasis).

Protest against giving ST status to six new groups

The Himanta government move pleased these six communities but upset the existing tribals.

Students of the Bodoland University in Kokrajhar took part in a protest against the Assam cabinet's approval of the (interim) report on granting ST status to six communities of the state.

The existing tribals say that the decision would undermine their rights and weaken their political, educational and economic safeguards. Protesters have demanded i Bodo areas that they demanded that the BTC administration revoke the ‘no-objection certificate' (NoC) given to the government.

On West Bengal BJP MPs meeting with PM today, BJP MP Raju Bista says,

"All MPs from West Bengal met the PM today. Whenever we meet the PM, we get a new energy.

He took information from us on the incident of an attack on one of our tribal MPs; there was also a discussion on the Darjeeling landslides. He appreciated the BJP workers' efforts for the party."

On meeting with Vice President CP Radhakrishnan regarding Vande Mataram row,

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said: "We had only one request for the Vice President, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Senior party leader Arvind Sawant was also with me.

We informed him that a notification had been issued instructing MPs not to chant slogans such as Jai Hind or Vande Mataram during their speeches. Our request, along with the letter we've provided, is that this notification be retracted promptly and that an apology be issued to the people of the country.

Jai Hind and Vande Mataram are two slogans that hold deep significance for our country... To ban those very slogans from being chanted in Parliament is anti-national...".
