New Delhi
Hours before first dice is cast or EVM machine starts functioning in 58 assembly
segments in 11 districts in the Jat heartland in UP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi exuded confidence of BJP’s victory in the polls in all five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
“The BJP always enters elections with pro-incumbency,” he told ANI news agency in an interview.
He stated that the BJP has always functioned with stability, and so it has been greeted with an atmosphere of pro-incumbency instead of anti-incumbency unlike other parties during the elections.
"I have come to win the hearts of farmers, and did so. I understand the pain of small farmers.
I had said that farm laws were implemented for the benefit of farmers but were taken back in national interest,”
Mr Modi said.
The first phase of polls will see a total of 58 constituencies across 11 districts going to polls on
Thursday, February 10.
Many seats like Baghpat, Barot and Chaprauli are known Jat strongholds.
In all these three seats, BJP candidates are also from the Jat community. From the
other side, RLD is contesting the three seats and its alliance partner Samajwadi Party has not
fielded any candidate.
Speaking on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident that claimed eight lives, including those of four farmers,
who were allegedly mowed down by an SUV, Mr Modi said the state government is working transparently
in the matter as it has given its consent for the committee and the judge that the Supreme Court wanted
to rope in for investigation.
Further, launching a scathing attack on “dynastic politics”, the PM said this dynastic politics is the
“greatest enemy of democracy”.
Incidentally, both the RLD and Samajwadi Party are being led by two dynastic families Jayant Chaudhry and Akhilesh Yadav respectively.
“When a party is run for generations by a family, there is only dynasty, not dynamics. Starting from J&K, where there are two parties run by two separate families. You can see a similar trend in Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Dynastic politics is the biggest enemy of democracy,” the Prime Minister said.

Elaborating on his “fake Samajwadi” jibe at the Samajwadi party in poll-bound UP, Modi said these
parties were only concerned about “parivarvad”.
About his government's policies on developments and roles of PSUs etc, he said,
"The Government has no business to do business. Its job is to think about food for the poor, make houses
and toilets for them, get them clean drinking water, make health facilities available to them, make roads,
to think about the small farmers. This is my priority".
"If somebody calls this socialism, I accept it. When I talk of fake socialism, it's about dynasty.
Can you see Lohia ji's, George Fernandes', Nitish Kumar's families? They are socialists.
I received letter that 45 people from SP,hold some posts. This dynastic politics is a threat to democracy".
