"Political DNA is key; NDPP has strong anti-Congress DNA", says Chuba Ao

"Political DNA is key; NDPP has strong anti-Congress DNA", says Chuba Ao

Senior politician and BJP national vice president M Chuba Ao on Tuesday welcomed NDPP's "enthusiasm" about association with his party and said, "I am thrilled the manner the regional partner has been conducting since July 18 NDA meeting in Delhi".

"I am not surprised, why are you surprised ? The NDPP and the BJP have a strong bond. They are appreciating us and also saying that the NDPP participating at the NDA deliberations is a matter of pride for the entire Naga society. Let us welcome that," Chuba told 'Nagaland Page'. .

Answering questions during a brief tele interview, he said, "For me political DNA is always important; and I need not tell you the NDPP has a strong anti-Congress DNA. So, they are with us and will continue to be with us".

Asked to comment on Opposition parties mulling the idea of a No Confidence motion against the Modi government, he said, "I will not say much. It seems they do not have confidence among themselves on how to face Home Minister Amit Shah on Manipur in Parliament".

To a question, he clarified, "In politics an individual's background or upbringing has importance up to a level. But political ideology and commitment are crucial. From outside in the media, you may say all are the same....Therefore, you will find, all politicians could be the same but there is a difference.

That's due to political DNA".

"It's immaterial whether Neiphio Rio or Chingwang Konyak ji were in the Congress or not. Importance is they all felt suffocated in that party. That's why NPF or NDPP as regional parties are heart and soul anti-Congress. So is the BJP.... Hence, we went very well. Even with the NPF, the alliance continued even though we might have had one or two MLA".

Elaborating further he said, "Recently some journalists in Delhi asked me why Maharashtra politics is so important today..... My answer was this; the same 'political DNA'. In fact, at the request of some friends, I wrote an article which was published in Sikkim and some papers outside Nagaland".

"Look, as a journalist you must understand that the Maharashtra developments should open eyes for other regional parties such as the JD(U). Even JD-U has its origin in anti-Congress plank.

Of course, in this category we cannot discuss parties such as Trinamool Congress whose DNA is with the Corrupt and grossly inefficient Congress party".

On this backdrop, he further said, "You may ask now, why did the Shiv Sena split? It is because the party was founded by Bal Thackeray on the political ideology of anti-Congress plank. Sena cadres endorsed the politics of no appeasement and inclusiveness. It was a strong nationalist force.

But in 2019, in his wisdom Uddhav Thackeray gave up all that. He gave up even Hindutva and started sharing power with parties such as the NCP and the Congress.  The Sena cadres cannot accept Congress diktats".

"Now, even the NCP is split and the politics in Maharashtra took such a turn that a stalwart Sharad Pawar is left a dejected man. The NDPP leadership is matured and understands it very well that the people of India will again elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi".

On how BJP leaders feel because NPF chief Shurhozelie skipped the NDA bash, Chuba said, "They may have their own reasons. I should not speculate".

Asked about the Manipur crisis, he said, "It is certainly the most challenging crisis. It is also very sad. I should not go into details when our government is willing to debate and discuss it in Parliament. Amit Shah ji has himself said the country should know the truth on the sensitive matters about Manipur”.
