We have a consolidating dictatorship in our country.”
"We have a consolidating dictatorship in our country" - a TV host
Move over Indians being angry or Indian Ministers taking potshots at the US President.
Even in US politics and elsewhere - not many find world's supposedly most powerful nation head as a reasonable democrat.
The 'madness' in the form of imposing his will is only accelerating.
Trump’s first time was truly different. In contrast his second term has seen a sustained assault on democratic institutions – political, judicial, media, cultural and academic.
In diplomacy, he is preferring the 'defeated' army commander of a rogue and a terror-sponsor nation and has decided to embarrass the world's largest democracy.
An article in London's 'The Guardian' newspaper says -
"The anger was raw and resolute. Speaking at the Republican congressman Mike Flood’s town hall in Lincoln, Nebraska, a woman pointed to the estimated $450m cost of “Alligator Alcatraz”, an immigration detention facility in Florida. “How much does it cost for fascism?” she demanded. “How much do the taxpayers have to pay for a fascist country?”
The crowd erupted in applause and whoops. In the week that Donald Trump marked his 200th day in office, few mainstream political commentators are bandying around terms such as “fascist”. But many are warning of a societal march towards authoritarianism".
Rajnath Singh as India'a Defence Minister and a senior BJP leader is justified for calling Trump or Americans - 'sabka boss'.
"There are some people who are not happy with the speed at which India is developing. They are not liking it. 'Sabka boss toh hum hain', how is India growing at such a fast pace?," the Defence Minister said, reflecting on the diplomatic turbulence following Donald Trump’s 50 per cent tariff.
Some samples of 'unreasonable' steps in today's era:
## Over the past month the US president has demanded that his predecessor, Barack Obama, be prosecuted for “treason”.
* Trump fired the government’s top labour statistician following a weak jobs report
** He forced Columbia University to pay more than $200m in a settlement that many saw as capitulation.
Trump administration ousts FBI official who refused to name agents who investigated January 6
Donald Trump has also egged on Republicans in Texas and other states to redraw congressional maps so they favour his party in future elections – turning the FBI on dissenting Democrats.
He also ordered a new census that excludes people “who are in our Country illegally”.

The Trump administration has pursued a hostile takeover of the nation’s capital, Washington DC.
Rachel Maddow, a leading progressive TV host, told viewers of her show on the MSNBC network this week: “We do now live in a country that has an authoritarian leader in charge.
We have a consolidating dictatorship in our country.”
Fascism is an ideological term which refers to a broad set of aspirations and influences that emerged in the early 20th century, exemplified by the European dictators Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, and Francisco Franco.
The 'fascism' also include elements of nationalism, enforcement of social hierarchies, hatred towards social minority groups, opposition to liberalism, the cult of personality, racism, and the love of militaristic symbols.
Since Trump was elected to office in 2016, many academics have compared Trump's politics to fascism.
Several have also pointed out that contrasts exist between historical fascism and Trump's politics.
