What can Sickularism-smitten Congress party do ? It needs to support Palestinian rights ....somersault after backing Israel a day before

ISRAEL CAUGHT OFF GUARD

The assault by Hamas, the worst breach in Israel's defences since Arab armies waged war in 1973, followed two years of subterfuge that involved keeping its military plans under wraps and convincing Israel it did not want a fight.

Old habits cannot die ! No one can teach new tricks to old .... Sickularism smitten Congress party !!

At the end of the day, vote bank and minority appeasement counts.

Just less than 24 hours after the grand old party said it "condemns the brutal attacks on the people of Israel"; on Monday it said,  the Congress Working Committee extended its support "for the rights of the Palestinian people to land, self-government and to live with dignity and respect".

"The Congress Working Committee (CWC) calls for an immediate cease-fire and for negotiations to begin on all outstanding issues including the imperative issues that have given rise to the present conflict," it said in a statement.

The conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group entered the third day on Monday and has claimed the lives of over 1,100 people on both sides.  The war ensued after Hamas militants launched a barrage of over 3,000 rockets from Gaza into Israel on Saturday.

The BJP has used the Hamas attack on Israel to launch a broadside on the Congress. Citing the examples of various terror incidents across the county including the Mumbai terror attack,

the BJP said, "What Israel is facing today, India suffered between 2004-14. Never forgive, never forget...".

The video issued by the BJP also contained a statement of Rahul Gandhi saying 'it's very difficult to stop every single terrorist attack'.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office denied the claims that Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel warned him about a potential large-scale operation by the Hamas militant group, 10 days before the group launched the surprise attack.

Israel has further claimed that Netanyahu had not had any direct or indirect communication with the intelligence chief since the establishment of the government.

Despite Israel's extensive surveillance capabilities in Gaza, including drones, security cameras, and cyber intelligence, the country was caught off guard by the surprise onslaught by Hamas. The militant group breached Israeli border barriers, launching a brazen attack that resulted in over 700 deaths and more than 2,000 injuries.

This incident has cast a shadow over the reputation of Israel's intelligence agencies, known for their string of achievements over the decades. “This is a major failure,” Yaakov Amidror, a former national security adviser to Netanyahu, was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel. "This operation actually proves that the [intelligence] abilities in Gaza were no good," he added.
