Hamas, on the other hand, rejected the Israeli order. “Our Palestinian people reject the threat of the occupation (Israeli) leaders and its call for them to leave their homes and flee from them to the south or Egypt,” the group said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday recalled the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament and said the world was hit by terrorism, but still there was no agreement on a uniform definition.

"Consensus not being achieved on the definition of terrorism is saddening, the enemies of humanity are taking advantage of this approach. Parliaments across the world have to think about how we should work together to combat terrorism," PM Modi said.

Addressing the inaugural session of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) in Delhi, PM Modi said, "The terrorists knew our Parliament was running and they wanted to finish it."

The Prime Minister also stressed for the need to move forward together and said, "It is the time for everyone's development."

Israel-Hamas War News Live Updates: UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric called the Israeli military order on Gazans' relocation “impossible” without “devastating humanitarian consequences.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) in New Delhi.  The Israeli military has announced that around 1.1 million civilians will be evacuated from Gaza city, “for their own safety”, within 24 hours. It has also said that it will continue to “operate significantly” in the area in the coming days, and residents will be allowed to return only when an announcement permitting them to do so will be made. The military also ordered Gazans to not approach the area of fence with Israel. UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric called the order “impossible” without “devastating humanitarian consequences.” Hamas labelled the order “fake propaganda” and asked citizens not to fall for it, news agency Reuters reported. Meanwhile, the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) said it relocated its central operations centre and international staff to Gaza’s south, and also urged Israel to protect all civilians in its shelters. The ongoing war has claimed at least 2,800 lives on both sides, according to news agency AP.

The first flight under ‘Operation Ajay’ landed in Delhi from Israel early Friday, with evacuated Indians, mostly students, praising the Indian Embassy’s smooth facilitation and coordination throughout the rescue efforts. The ‘Operation Ajay’ was launched by the Indian government on the sixth day (Thursday, October 12) of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war to repatriate Indians from Israel and Palestine through special chartered flights. Around 18,000 Indians are in Israel and 17 in Palestine. The Navy will also be pressed into action.

“I welcome you at the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) on behalf of 140 crore Indians. This Summit is like a 'mahakumbh' of parliamentary practices from across the world,” PM Modi said.  The prime minister added that parliaments are an important place for debate and deliberations. He also hailed India's moon landing and the successful conclusion of the G20 summit.

“Today, we are hosting the P20 Summit. This Summit is also a medium to celebrate the power of the people of our country. P20 Summit is being organised in India, which is the mother of democracy and the world's biggest democracy too,” he pointed out.

He also said that conflicts and confrontations being faced by the world today do not benefit anyone. The remarks come amid a war between Israel and Palestine-based Hamas militants, which has resulted in the killing of over 2,800 people in both countries.

"A divided world cannot give solutions to the challenges before us. This is a time for peace and brotherhood, a time to move together, a time to move forward together. This is the time for development and welfare of all," he said.

Speakers and heads of the delegation of Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Spain, European Parliament, Italy, South Africa, Russia, Turkiye, Nigeria, Australia, Brazil, UAE, Singapore, Japan, Egypt and Bangladesh were present in the event.

"India has been facing cross-border terrorism for decades and terrorists have killed thousands of innocents," PM Modi said, adding, "The world is now realising how big a challenge terrorism is, and that it is against humanity."

In an apparent reference to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned, "Conflicts and confrontations being faced by the world today do not benefit anyone. A divided world cannot give solutions to challenges before humanity."

"We have to remove obstacles in the way of global trust and move forward with a human-centric approach."

Modi also referred to parliamentary practices and said, "It is a unique confluence of various parliamentary practices from around the world. The country's parliamentary practices have evolved and strengthened."

"The G20 presidency ensured festivities in India throughout the year, India's landing on the moon added to the celebrations," the Prime Minister added.

Speaking about elections, PM Narendra Modi, at the event said, "India has conducted 17 general elections and over 300 state assembly polls so far."

"In the 2019 general elections, people made my party victorious for the second time in a row. This was the world's biggest election."

"The use of EVMs has boosted transparency and efficiency in the election process, as results are now declared within hours of the counting of votes," the PM said.

The summit was hosted by Parliament under the broader framework of India's G20 presidency. The event was attended by Speakers of Parliaments of G20 members and invitee countries.

If Israel doesn’t end Gaza bombardment, war may open on ‘other fronts’: Iran

“In light of the continued aggression, war crimes, and siege on Gaza, opening other fronts is a real possibility,” Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian said about the relentless bombardment by Israel.

Amirabdollahian arrived in Beirut late Thursday evening, where he was greeted by representatives of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad along with Lebanese officials.

India's electoral process, the diversity in unity and diversity in lifestyles with hundreds of dialects, also play a vital role.
